I recently Purchased a Triumph battery charger for my bike. Have successfully charged the battery previously with a Motorrad charger using the Din socket adjacent to the seat, I bought a Din adapter as well for the Triumph Optimate 2 charger. I cannot charge the battery via the Din but it will charge if I attach leads direct to the battery. Triumph have tested the charger and connector and assure me both are ok. Any body else experienced this problem please, advice gratefully received.
Cheers.

The plug by the seat is switched. The one under the dash is a permanent live and the one to use when charging.

I have just traded my Rally Pro in for an R1250 GSA. The Din socket you are using by the seat is a switched live socket. Only becoming live with ignition. The Din socket in the cockpit area is permanently live, with or without ignition, this is the one to use to charge the battery. Or as I did fit a short fly lead to the battery.

This is a reply by karl at Optimate relating to leads that attached to the charger and possibly the Triumph version. It explains what you can use with each motorcycle.

The O47 connects to the OBD socket used on Ducati’s from 2010 until the introduction of Euro 5 legislation. If you want to connect to the OBD socket on your motorcycle you will need the O77. Please note this can be used on almost all Euro 5 onwards motorcycles regardless of manufacturer as this a standardised OBD connector.
It is not possible to connect via the DIN socket on Ducati motorcycles. Although the connector is the same as used by BMW and Triumph, the socket is only live when the ignition is in the on position. The only way to change this would be rewire the socket so that it was connected to the battery.
Please note that the “CAN-bus” programs are exclusive to charging a BMW motorcycle via an accessory socket that is under the jurisdiction of motorcycle’s central wiring controller. For a socket that is permanently live as with Triumph or a pre-2004 BMW then the standard program can be used.

Thanks for all your replies. The latest version of the 900 GT Pro does not have a Din in the cockpit, this is now a USB C. The Din socket under the seat has been confirmed by Triumph as permanently Live, fused directly to the battery. I have used the Din socket with a different charger successfully. I have now hard wired the charger with a different connector and it works fine so am suspecting it is the fuze in the Din socket.

I had the same issue with my 24' tiger, the socket near the seat was faulty and i got it changed under warranty. After much fiddling I wired a bulb to a spare din plug, the bulb lit when the plug was partially in the socket but not when fully pushed in.

Many thanks for this, will have a look.

I have exactly the same issue on my 2024 Tiger 1200 GT Explorer  They’re supposed to be getting changing both DIN sockets whilst it’s in there getting a new rear shock absorber fitted. They’ve had the bike three weeks and the shock absorber isn’t expected until mid-November
