Time for a 100PD rebuild

Is it too boring?

I'll be pulling the bike apart at the weekend.

These bikes are so easy to do it's never going to be an exciting read

Not boring, however I predict you won't be screwing it up. How about you do video reports, sampling numerous pints of real ale as you progress on the project this weekend and throughout the rebuild with every report finishing up with a Fred Dibnah style "Did you like that" :D it would be a bit 'Keith Floyd' but with mechanics and beer instead of food and wine. :thumb

The big question is ...

... where is the 'too powerful' Moorespeed engine headed ?

... where is the 'too powerful' Moorespeed engine headed ?

It was only ever in this bike as a temporary measure. It's a great engine and feels just like an 1100 engine but the 100gs gearing is wrong for it so you end up changing gear as frequently as a jap bike. On top of that the brakes and suspension really aren't upto the job. All sortable but would need loads of cash spending. The standard engine and chassis work so well together it would be a shame to change it all.

The moorespeed engine is going in a twin shock chassis along with a load of nice bits I've accumulated over the years.

Jeez!!

I had never heard of a Guzzi Quota until you wrote that so had a quick google. They certainly look all right (contemporay to their time of course), were they really that bad...?

Had a test run on a new V7 , quite a nice bike but doesn't really show much improvement over the G/S, and it has the benefit of 41 years development!
But a lot better than BMW's horrid 800cc parallel twin , which is a gutless vibratory oversprung and underdamped POS - it felt like a triple with one plug lead off, set up for 140 kg rider who only rose on smooth straight roads.
