Good day folks,

After 4 years of ownership of my daily ridden '08 oil cooled GS, I think it's time for me to let her go and upgrade to a younger model.

I'm hoping to get some guidance from you guys in regards to what to look for... Any known issues or weak spots with 2016/17 models?

Also, and I'm probably not the only one here, I'm madly in love with the Rallye color scheme, but I wonder if she's any taller than the standard GS or not? I've read about longer suspension travel but that doesn't necessarily means taller, does it?
I would go for one with the normal seats (rider/passenger) not the flat Enduro one.

No issues with the standard GS with the seat in it's lower position but any higher than that might be a challenge for my modest 1.7m / 5'7ft

Thank you in advance!

Cheers
Rami

Go for March '17 onwards with the updated gearbox and Dynamic ESA.

Ah, nice one! Is it safe to say that all 2017 Rallye versions will have the revised gearbox and new electronics or still have to keep an eye on release date for those?

Thanks bud!

They are slightly taller - there is a page on the BMW website, I’m sure someone will post it for you. mate of mine tested the standard GS, preferred the colour of the Rallye and has complained ever since that he can only touch the floor on his tippy toes!

The Rallye was taller with the "sport" suspension. You could, however, order the Rallye with either the standard height suspension and also the seat height reduction suspension.
If you're looking for one to buy, ask the question about which suspension is on the bike and make sure you get the correct answer.

Contact twizzle on here. He had a std height Rallye for sale recently at a very good price.

It wasn't advertised on here.

Excellent, that's definitely what I'm looking for. I appreciate that!

Will do, thank you sir.

Euro4 MY17 Triple Black was the best 1200GS they made. Even the spoked wheels were trouble-free!

That unfortunately is my least favorite scheme and it'll be a nightmare that'll have to wash every other day. If I find a good day, I'll probably consider it but possibly my last option there...

Yes, looks are very important and I want to be excited to open up the garage if I'm spending this kind of money :)
