Thanks to David Gibson 999 for helping me with getting the downloading of pics right.

That time again, the better half had given me the green card to go for a quick skite down to see number 2 son in Biarritz.

The route was quickly planned on sat nav, tent packed, some clothes and a few euros scraped together, and off I headed early on the 12th morning to get to Rosslare enroute to Cherbourg. Was meant to share a cabin with three others, only one turned up, and that was in the morning. Good nights sleep.

Took the back roads down to Biarritz through sweltering heat and two days later met up with the kid and his travelling companion Roach Pastrami.

We stayed in a campsite for two nights and got royally ripped off. 74 euros.

The evenings and most of the day were spent at this local.

Due to Crippys mates letting him down, he had to return to Chamonix and work, leaving me to play in the Pyrennees. Stopped off at Oloron St Marie and replenished the inner engine with salad, ham rolls and cooool beer outside a local church. This menu was to be repeated many times over the next few days. I love the architecture, especially the doors.

Headed down the N134 towards the Col du Someport, where I came across these natural rock formations...

Just before I reached these stones, my trip was nearly cut short. I'd promised the better half that I wouldn't rake about and travelling at about 60ish I was entering a right hand bend when an oncoming car was flashing the headlights and occupant gesturing me to slow down. Anchors out and rapid decrease in speed brought me round the corner. Man hole cover missing. Right on the line of travel. A BIG thank you to who ever the motorist was.

A few pics of the area.......

Anyways, up on the Col du Someport, I came across a fellow traveller called Rodger. Rodger had retired and was walking along the top of the Pyrennees from West to East. We chatted, drank some water together, took pics and said our goodbyes..........

From Castejon, I headed up towards Viella and literally bumped into this lady sitting on steps.........

I turned onto the C28 to Sort. Up through the clouds (had to stop to put on a jumper) and into sunlight. This road was great. Better than any I've been on in the Alps. The scenery was superb, the bends bendier, the twisties twistier. Whats more, the road surface had just been relaid. I played about this area for the day, and eventually found this place for the night.............

From here I headed into Andorra and did some shopping - Nice prices. Stayed the night at Ordinoin at an almost empty hotel, me, the owner and the local drunk.

Nicely named hotel.................

Left the next morning and duely ignored the deer signs until bambi jumped out right in front of me. One look at Big Mary and it jumped offside. I decided then not to ignore the signs.

Nice report,
Can I ask ye where did ye get the seat, Is it home made or did you order it already shapped to fit ?
Does it help with the sweaty bum stickin to the seat problem...?
I had a bit of bother with the heat on my trip, it was a right pain in the arse.

That monstrosity Ged perches his cheeks on is a sheepskin rug bought for tuppence in a charity shop, folded in two and bungeed in place - brilliant. :D

irish dude,

As DG999 rightly said, from a charity shop in gud auld ballamena he.

3 dabs for the fair isle shag and two bungees.

Si had one and eulogized about it's comfort and price. £20 or there abouts on the internet, but he wouldn't lend me his. Said my arse smelt or something like that. (can't remember him smelling my arse)

Anyway, the sheep on the seat is really good. No complaints from the neather region so it must work. At £3 it's not bad.

3 quid to cure arseburn is the best effer!

Stayed in Hotel Bristol in Oloron, still remember it. Tiny but good food and drink. Hard town to find the road out though, bit like Carlow.

Left Andorra and headed north but decided, feck it all, lets play in the mountains so thats what I did, staying the night in Fiox. Next morning headed north to the touristy Dordorgne region and stopped at Figerac. Went to tourist office and got a cheap hotel. Walking through the centre came across an even cheaper hotel on the Place Carnot beside a square. The square was a covered eating area. Hotel had a bar and was dirt cheap and clean. Went round the town and watched their very own tour de france through the streets from the comfort of a street bar. This guy was either travelling marshal or doctor but he was having a ball

Went to bed that night, Big Mary tucked up with the cats in the hotel garage and during the night this boy was looking through the window. (a change from pink elephants or in my case snakes)

3809020830_500ff33d4c.jpg

Headed north towards Rocamador.

Thats grand to hear I'm goin to have to get me one of those. In Bosina in Sarajevo I nearly bought a sheep skin but yerman wanted 25euros for it .
Thats a lot of drink money there .
I'll be putting Spain on me long list of places to go .

what's this about me smelling your arse??? no, i think i said that because i use it on my pillow when camping, i didn't fancy resting my head on that place your butt had dripped its perspiration on. i think that's reasonable? It was £9.99 from lambland, but yours is much better value, if you don't mind looking like a bursie. :aidan

good photos nonetheless Jged.
