That time again, the better half has given me the green card to go for a quick skite down to see number 2 son at Biarritz.

The route was quickly planned on sat nav, tent packed, some clothes and a few euros scraped together, and off I headed early on the 12th morning to get to Rosslare enroute to Cherbourg. Ferry trip uneventful. Nice and smooth. Meant to share a cabin with three others, only one turned up and that was for the morning.

Took the back roads down to Biarritz through sweltering heat and two days later met up with the kid and companion Roach Pastrami.

Due to Crippys mates letting down, he returned to Chamonix and work, leaving me to play in the Pyrennees. Stopped off at Oloron St Marie and replenished the inner self with salade and ham rolls, and a cool beer outside the local church. This menu was to be repeated many times of the next lot of days. I love this architecture and especially the doors.

Headed on down the N134 towards the Col du Someport. Enroute I spotted these natural rock formations :

Prior to these stones my journey was nearly cut short. I'd promised the better half that I wouldn't rake about and travelling at about 70ish I was entering a right hand bend when an oncoming car was flashing headlights and occupant gesturing me to slow down. Anchors out and rapid decrease in speed brought me round the corner. Man hole cover missing. Right on my line of travel. A big thankyou to who ever the motorist was.

Anyhow, up in the mountains, I came across a fellow traveller who was walking along the Pyennees from west to east. We chatted, drank some water together and took a few pics.

From Castejon, I headed up towards Viella and then turned onto the C28 to Sort. This road was fanastic. Better than any I've been on in the alps. The scenery was great, the bends bendy and the twisties even more twisty. Whats more the road surface has just been renewed. I played about here for most of the day and called a halt at this place. another hostel, cheap and clean.

Left the next morning and duely ignored the deer signs. One jumped just out in front of me, stopped and got offside. I decided from then on not to ignore the signs.

Headed north towards the touristy Dordorgne.
