Just bin browsing thru the threads on quest with regard to v8 maps coming out in new year.

Does it make sense to wait until v8 comes out , buy the unit with it loaded on, then i'll get the upgrade to v9 in the future for free?

What'ja reckon ??

Also, does anyone know if gps warehouse fit systems, or can an auto-electrics numpty fit it.......... :eek

Think I read on here someplace that the Quest 11 is coming out soon, it may be wise to wait and see the prices! also the original Quest may fall in price with a new one looming :thumb :thumb

I am sure any competent auto electrician could fit no problem.

If you want to use it now then why wait ?

I bought mine earlier this year with V6 and got the free upgrade to V7. I'll upgrade to V8 when it comes out as I use my Quest quite a bit (it's only money after all).

I've also got a Garmin powered mount that is wired directly to the battery. Dead easy to fit, I just had to strip an inch of sleeving off the end of the wires, make a loop and onto the terminals. The lead routes under the tank and the mount is fitted on a RAM arm on the handlebars. Simple.

Quest 2 doesn't look to have anything significantly better than I already have. The POI loader looks clever but I've already downloaded the speed camera map which is what I would use the loader for. Quest 1 may well come down in price though.

I doubt that Garmin will re-issue the Quest with updated CDs, i.e. V8.
I bought my Quest quite a while after v7 became available, and it still arrived with v6, but you should mail their support team.

If you hold on for a while, you'll probably still get it with V6, and then use your upgrade for v8, so why wait? Enjoy it now! Unless of course the price drops with the arrival of Quest2. I would imagine though (all speculation on my part!) that the Quest 2 will be a direct replacement for the Quest1 in terms of their product line.. It doesn't have the additional feature-set to warrant manufacturing, marketing and selling both products at the same time, so Garmin may sell-off their remaining stock of the Quest 1, and then discontiue the product in favour of the Quest 2.

GPS Warehouse do not fit as a rule. Some GSer's know that RAM-man has got his *oily* spanner and screwdriver out to help a 'lost soul' find their way home.

If using the GA15 with QPAC, then simplest install will be QPAC02, QPAC03, QPAC04 with a plug. QPAC01 or QPAC02 -extn needs wiring in.

RAM-man
