Tinted Screen

I managed to get a set of tinted ones for mine, well through a third party.

I got a tinted screen of ebay last year, and the chappy said at the time he had the winglets tinted as well if i wanted them. They looked pretty impressive with the screen fitted.

The chappy told me he'd managed to get them of nippy normans as a one off job but looks as though he's now selling on the site, although i can't find the link. Now seeing as my bike is no more after being in a fire, i'll be getting a tinted screen again and will also be wanting tinted winglets.
Here's a couple of quick photo's, i'm on my laptop at the moment so can't find any from taken from the front.

Nice one Claw:thumb2

I neeeeeeeeeeeed some of these:drool

:beerjug:

Awww, just when I thought I'd stopped buying things something else comes along........no I'm not going to do it, clear winglets with a tinted screen work just as well, at what they're designed for anyway, as tinted ones!!!

PS....They look great by the way, I'll not resist for long :augie

Get in line yonko :D You onlys neeeeeeeeeeeeeeds em i gotta Praps we can order a job lot

Got to be worth asking about i would think, i'll phone tomorrow and ask, and my mam always said if you don't ask for it you never get it.

:)

Try ordinary paint

Why not try pinting THE BACK of the screen with ordinary gloss paint? Try it first on an odd bit of plastic or an old screen -you will be amazed and the brush marks won't show if you are careful. This assumes that you are not a VERY small guy who needs to look through the screen!

Nippy Normans offer a tinted version of their winglets.

Not a perfect match for the BuMW screen tint, but better than clear IMHO.

I can take a picture of my GS with tinted ADV screen and NN tinted winglets if anyone wants me to?

I have to agree with SPL the Nippy Norman tinted winglets are what I would decribe as light smoke
Although Claws photos do show the NN winglets much darker than I have seen
Prehaps the 'NN one of job' was a pre-production pair which are now much lighter :nenau
They are much lighter than the BMW tinted Adventure screen......:blast
NN tinted winglets are a perfect match for their High-Wide screen (see light tint on right NN screen)
I am hanging on and hope BMW eventually do some darker matched winglets :thumb2

Any luck with the group order? i'm up for a pair if they do them in dark tint like my screen.:thumb2

I tried this morning and just now and there is no answer from his help line number (01626 830458) i'll try again later.

I'll be surprised if his suppliers would have changed the spec' of the tints as they were nearly a perfect match for the oem tinted screen.

The photo on his web site is the same for his clear winglets. Perhaps he hasn't realised.

Since he has not been back to see ya post Smudge I can vouch for him & say it does look nice, better than the clear version. :thumb2

Nice one Summer :thumb2

Still waiting for any other suggestions re. the winglets ... I am still toying with the idea of paint, maybe trying some on a test piece .. any comments/idea's welcome :beerjug:

Sounds like a plan Dan :eyebrow .
Back lights are plastic nowadays so should be ok.
I am away for a couple of weeks now, but I will give it a go when I get back,
unless someone else cares to try it beforehand:augie

Ok chums, I took the gamble and sprayed me flaps. Beware; do not spray the underside (like I did:augie:blast), as there seems to be some kind of coating that reacts against the spray, However, if you build up thin layers of spray on the top side, the results aren’t to bad.

Well done Yonkyo, :thumb2 looks pretty good and thanks for the tips.
Did spraying the underside cause any damage?
Where did you get the paint?
:clap:clap:clap:clap:bow

When i sprayed the bottom side, the paint didn't dry properly and caused lines/cracks to form in the paint (look closely at the right hand flap). So i will have to try and remove the spray with white spirit later.:blast

Also the tint is a different colour to the screen, its more brown than grey. Overall, I’m not too impressed with the result, SO JUST BE AWARE OF THIS BEFORE YOU PAINT YOURS. :rob

But it'll do for now and doesn’t look to bad from a distance.:augie

I got the spray from my local Auto accessories Shop (Motoman)
