That plywood hack comes from the electricians without forklifts. When we used to set up wire pulls and didn't want to buy the brickies a case of beer to use their forklift ... You simply roll the extremely heavy wire roll up onto blocks of wood that have a ramp mitred in to one end. For some reason the larger size jack stands were always too tall to fit under an axle thru the wire reel. Then with the reel up on the blocks, you can quickly spin the jack up and lift the wire reel off the wood blocks. If you don't use all the wire you can reverse to get the reel off the jacks.
This usually occurs with small time contractors that can't afford a fork lift on the job, so smart people came up with this ....
When i bought my 1250 GS and tried to put it up on the centerstand, I couldn't do it. I'm used to horsing the bike up and the GS was just not having that. Like in the video just be patient and wait with all your weight on it and it will start to move ... or like I did for a few times I put a smooth flattish rock under the rear tire for an easy lift. .... just a little trivia .....
Also on the 1250s for sure you can put the bike in dynamic pro on the bars then go into the menu and set the suspension back to road for better rim protection or just comfort .....

Leave them off then
I'm used to being able to quickly switch them on if I run into traffic queues which you can't do so easily with the 1300. Even if they'd been accessible from the wonderwheel as a quick access would have been acceptable but they're not.
Bloody BMW re-inventing the wheel when it wasn't required.

At least on the GSA, the aux lights aren't particularly bright, so I don't think that leaving them on in traffic is likely to be an issue.

Kudos for thinking about other road users anyway, I have been followed by a guy on a fully Denali'd 1250, and that was just stupidly bright, actually dazzling even in sunlight.
