I need to fit some off road tyres to my GSA, I was going to fit TKC but I see that the Karoo's are much cheaper, is there much difference in their performance. I will be riding on sand, gravel and rock.

I prefer the Karoos over the TKCs on the road.
The Karoos feel more stable through the bends and give less road noise.
They are also almost as good as the TKCs in the mud.
I think TKC's trump Karoo's but for a really good all rounder the Heidenau K60's take some beating They aren't as good off road as a TKC but they will do what you need and will have twice the life of a TKC.

The former is a radial and will not last long if used on tarmac, the latter is Metzler's TKC 80 and bias belted. The Karoo is much cheaper than the Karoo 2(T) and that is a bit cheaper than the TKC 80.
In terms of ride, performance and wear there's not much in it between the Karoo 2(T) and the TKC 80. The Metzler doesn't feel quite as good in the wet as the Continental.
Karoo 2(T) on the left, TKC 80 on the right:
The Karoo 2(T) in the above are part worn and appear wider because they are on the rims.
