TKC-80

Anyone else tried to keep up with Vern on his 1100 with badly worn TKC`s:eek:?

That will tell you all you need to know about how good they are when you are confident in the tyre:thumb

Not ridden with Vern. But I've heard this about him before. I will say though the TKC's are much better and more managable when well worn in than when new.

I 'm on my second rear this year ....

Trouble is I'm only getting around 3000-3200 miles from a rear ! Is this normal ? :augie

I get exceptional milage from my tyres because I'm following trainees allday.

Sid Horman told my once he only gets 2-3000mls from a rear.

I also keep a close eye on my tyres. The tread can look like it's wareing very quickly, but if you look closely you'll notice that the parts of the tread that look like they're worn out are not yet down to the 1mm and take a supprisingly long time to actualy become illeagle. This is hidden slighly because the rest of the tread is very much deeper then that of conventional tyres.

Put a pair on mine before Princetown in September for the off road ride. Haven't swapped wheels yet! Need a new rear for a second Salisbury trip before Christmas as they don't wear so good (but that's the trade-off). Like VAL says, they look worn, but they are not - just need a bit more bite for the mud!

First ride was like running on tarmac with football boots on. Still feels weird if I haven't ridden for a week or so.

I find they grip quickly if you do slip but I had no problems on Saturday when it lashed it down - I just know that if I do head for the ditch/field I can keep riding through it!! :)

Was thinking of trying something else to compare. Any suggestions?

I'm just changing to TKC80s after 8000 miles on Tourances on my 1200GSA. Local guy turns up to my home, or anywhere in Thames Valley, and fits them for £210 all in.

£200 fitted at my home, where near London does it cheaper? The main dealer wanted £260.
