I'm booked on the WOB week offroading in the Pyrenees with Chris Evans in Oct.(Details here)
My GSA came with Anakees but I now have the chance to get a set of TKCs cheapish as my delaer cocked up on a customer's new GSA and it came down with TKCs which are now going spare.

The question is,will TKCs be suitable for such a trip,or should I get something more offroady ?

They'll be fine. Anything more 'gnarly' and you'll suffer for it on road riding stability. TK's are a good compromise.

If you were thinking you need something more capable than TK's, then you really need to think about riding your SE950 instead...:thumb

Ta.

I did think about taking the 950SE but it's more a question of getting luggage to Spain, which I can do much more easily with panniers on my GSA.

Not seen anything in the Pyrenees that can't be done on road tyres :thumb

I'm riding to the Pyrenees in May on road tyres and changing them to TKCs once I get there. Considering the rear only lasts about 3000 to 3500 miles you use up 2000 miles just getting there and back.

That's cos u aint been on the tracks that we will be riding on :

REf the TKCs,I'll go and make the dealer a silly offer

Just read the website, the trip looks great. Also noticed the group is getting the ferry all the way to Santander which is lucky. :thumb

Couldn't afford to do this myself. :(

Still all doable on road tyres :thumb

Have a good one

Yeah, I'd second that.

There's nothing there that dual purpose tyres couldn't cope with. IMHO I'd rather have a road biased tyre and have a happier time on the asphalt and compromise for the small amount of 'piste' that would appear to be part of the course, rather than compromise the other way round IYSWIM.

Sounds a fun few days (not sure about the pigeon eating though, bl00dy Vascos :spitfire ).

Have fun :thumb2

hi i'm BBR a newbee on this forum

i live in TOULOUSE near the Pyrénées and i go there to ride very often.
if you feel like an adventurer and you have a minimum of experience in off-road riding, i suggest you to go there by your self, with ZEGA CASE, camp tent ....and save a lot of money for the same pleasure!

i could help you to prepare all roadbook and logistic....with pleasure

just to have an idea you can get some very welldone roadbook at VIBRACTION (http://perso.orange.fr/vibraction/cadre_accueil.htm) witch can take along all spanish side of Pyrénées.(note that the frech side containt a lot of "pistes" but our f*****g laws make them forbidden for "motorized device" )

you could get some KAROO (T) in Toulouse before starting the mountains witch could last all the pyrénées ride and then reinstall your road tires to come back home (i know a nice and cheap dealer )
