"Not as good as they were" etc etc

First GS was 1999 and had all the variants. The quality of the new 1300's are as good if not better than any GS I've owned. Maybe I'm lucky? I'm not a "Polisher" only time, is this time of year.

Don't get me wrong, loved all my GS's, but the quality of this one is very good..........

Do you have an estimate how much is the shaft replacement? Recommend at 36000 miles.

Hopefully if it needs replacing, or are they saying "Replace"? it will still be under warranty, won't be 3 years old by 36,000 miles.

Be an interesting time no doubt!

I love the look of the "rough" 1300 engine coatings. I take it they are good now? And not prone to corrosion like the 1200/1250 LC's?

I’m now on my … too many to count GS. Started on an 1150GS in 2003 and all variants since. The quality of finish and engineering detail is on another level. I’m confident this is a robust and long lasting finish on the engine and shaft etc. superb bike and finally a lovely gearbox 🙏😂😊

Sounds like a great experience to date. I am one of the unfortunate few who have had great experience of BMW until I bought my 1300’s.

I bought my first GS in 2006, it was an 1150 SE. Between then an the last one, before I jumped ship to Moto Guzzi in 2013, I had a further 4 GS's. They were all reasonably good bikes until the last, which was an early WC. This bike was an absolute pain to own, spent more time back at the dealers than it did with me. I very soon tired of it and chopped it in for a 2014 Guzzi 1200 Stelvio NTX. I stuck with Guzzi and owned many over the next 13 years. Sadly due to a physical problem with my hand I needed to look at an auto bike. For me the only alternative was the GS1300 ASA. Africa Twin is far too tall.
The thought of another GS didn't fill me with joy but, it kept me motorcycling. I've now owned it for just under a year and done 6k miles. I rode it through the winter last year, giving it a quick wash down after going out on salty roads.
I must say I am warming to this bike I even think it's not bad looking now. I gave it a good clean a couple of weeks ago and it looked like new. It's much easier to clean than any other GS I've owned and the ride is far superior to any other GS I've owned. I never owned a 1250 but did own an R1250r. It's quick it, handles well, is very comfortable and effortless to ride.
If my physical problem suddenly cured itself would I go back to Guzzi's? Not going to happen, so I don't need to concern myself.
IMHO, the 1300 GS ASA is the best GS ever produced. Touch wood , it's very hard to fault. I've had an extended ride on the KTM 1390 adventure S EVO. It was nice, but I was pleased to get back on the GS.

Dealer confirmed today ☝️

Just found this information (it is for the R1300R, same shaft drive):

"Lubrication at 30,000km, preventive replacement at 80,000km".

So actually is not necessary?
