To The Ace and Back... The Non Circular Way Round.

Can you sign an Ace's sticker next time your there so I can show others I've met you....:thumb2

No problem Carl, I'm not going to let this go to my head. Although I might endorse some male hygiene products....Things like Ultra Thin Tenna Bloke.... Stop those embarrasing skid mark problems.

On a critical note though i would say it could be a mistake to let your predudicial views, of some of the locals of the province's you pass through, colour what was otherwise of a high litary standard.

Have you been up the Fulham Road when the Chelsea villagers exit en mass from their weekly tribal cerimonial meetings?

Can you post up your route in mapsource, so i can retrace your steps.

And what tyres would you recommend ?

Once I've found my crayons I will mark out my route on a map and post it.

I've always liked the look of General Grabber A/T's

+1 :clap:clap
and great to meet you Geoff :kissy2

Nice to see you again Ash.

You too are no doubt wondering how our intrepid explorer might have managed to come from the New Cross Road headed towards Peckham only to find himself coming due South down Peckham Hill Street to pass Manze's on the right.

I'm also keen to know how he managed to go right towards Camberwell Green from that particular stop - both of these could take a chapter and an episode if handled properly - I can't wait :drool

To cut a long story short on a few occasions (Not as often as one of Phil's lead rideouts though) I employed a tactic much loved by the local motorcyclists, the inter village pharmacutical delivery riders and the helpful young scooterists that relieve their fellow village members of their heavy bags and wallets.....The U- Turn.
no panniers no fixers and no back up 4x4s you mad thing:eek:

What is life without a few risks?

Which oil did you use on your intrepid trek?:toungincheek

You Know the stuff you get at the bottom of a Doner Kebab sometimes? You can't beat it.

Well I for one am disappointed.

Not once did you blub about missing the wife/kids etc. and why wasn't a member of your family flown in for a surprise visit near the end?

Other than those omissions, I agree with Andy, there's at least an eight-part TV series in there. :clap

Got no kids, Wifey's always mucking about with her horse at the weekends, and they'd never get my Mum to come out in the cold.

I'm pleased you managed the trip without having any serious mishaps like your bike frame cracking and needing to find some local welders.

What you didn't mention though was having to eats the local ACE delicacy of a bowl of steaming hot sheeps balls:barf

I'd already had a bowl of Rice Crispies before I left so that sustained me for the entire trip. I was invited to dine at the Captains Table on the return leg but had to decline having not packed my dinner jacket, and Wifey had a chicken roasting ready for my return.

Well a good day there, and Im glad Im no longer on a BMW, a few who I saw on them understandably get the name Tosser, right up there with BMW car drivers:bow

Actually I wasn't thinking anything of the sort. I was thinking about the lost photo opportunity of the pie and mash with a side order of eels, warm of course.

Then I remembered an old Steptoe thread and was able to go and satisfy my hunger.

I'm hoping that Geoff will come along to the pet food run in June and do a write up of that and spread the word far and wide, I'm sure if we tell the Kentish Express or the Wealden Advertiser of his illustrious presence we will get front page coverage.... Who needs O'Boorman or McEwan?

I am planning a ride to Essex.

I leave on Saturday.

I want to see:

Stonehedge

The Sevan bridge

The Giants footway

Cheddaooor Gorge

The angle of the north

Take in Bonnington or is it silverstein for some racing

and the White Horse, I think it is a pub but someone said it could be a picture

I want to camp in a hotel and not buy petrol.

Can you suggest a route? My mate has a map of Iceland or maybe it came from Iceland. I want to avoid motorways, too so only great routes.

i have to be back at home by sunday.

What will the weather be like.

Where is Essex? It's not in the East Anglia thingybobwotsit. On second thoughts, I'll leave this to someone else with more knowledge of route planning :)

Maybe the great McEwan Lolgeoff can help you.

As it happens, I am thinking of setting up a company to organise guided tours of essex. I think there is a gap in the market here for cash rich, time poor tossers, er i mean clients, to experience the delights of 'The jewel in The east'.

In order to minimise time away from their high pressure banking jobs, I will collect their newly purchased GS1200 from the Canary Warf BMW showroom and transport it by trailer through the badlands of Canning Town, Dagenham, and beyond the M25 to the pure air of the essex countryside.

Obviously full backup vehicles will be on hand at all times and I am hoping to secure the services of the great Lolgeoff as tour guide.

I might have to wait until that ginger tosser from Harwich is off to Morocco though, in case he thinks I've nicked his idea....

What do you think? Worth taking to the Dragons Den?

Indeed i have seen the chelsea villagers exit one of there tribal gathrings, they attend a church the size of a stadium and worship 22 people who have gathered from around the world, they then split into smaller groups to perform pagan rituals, such as being forced to drink mind altering liquids out of shinny metal vessels, and enriching the earth by passing bodily fluids onto it.
Thats what i like about tralvel you have to keep an open mind!

I nearly bit at that remark being both a TWAT suit wearing GS rider as well as a BMW car driver but then realised where you were from and were beyond help........ :tosser:dabone:tosser:dabone:tosser:dabone:tosser:dabone:tosser:dabone

I think that is where you are wrong :rob

The people that turned up for this were less UKGSer but more Horizons Unlimited :rob

All that means is they brew up tea in a cafe car park and are partial to a bit of roadkill. Look on horizons, the percentage who actually go anywhere is the same ratio as on here, and the questions asked by some of the overlanders you could even answer :D - Main difference being they sleep in ditches and feelproud about it :D
