I don't have a problem with buffeting. the Givi screen does a good job with the wind. I'd really like to solve the wind NOISE problem though. I'm 6'1" and 31" inseam, so, I sit pretty high. Seems I'm right in the noisy spot. If I duck down an inch or so, noise is virtually eliminated. Was thinking tobinators might help???

cheers,
Jim

You can get about an inch more height with the Tobs fitted if your screen is routinely low on the rear adjusters. The Tobs will allow you to keep the same screen angle but raise the front and therefore also allow you to raise the rear to the top of the adjusters, whilst maintaining a nice angle of attack to the wind.

Not that I'm biased of course.

Thanks for the reply, Andy, but, I need a translation. Will they help with wind noise? (I can be a bit thick at times :eek )

roughly the same issue, givi screen +/- tobinators, i'm 6 foot & have the seat on low setting.

The noise is due to having the airflow around the helmet, which drops markedly if i duck behind the screen, i honestly have tried the screen with & without the tobinators for about 3-4 months = 1500/2000 miles, making small adjustments almost every ride out

if you lift the screen you get buffeting like being sat on a pneumatic drill, lean it back & the buffeting goes ( helmet in the airflow) BUT the wind noise increases markedly, the tobinators only help airflow on this screen when it's leant back

i've also got the MRA new touring screen where the 2 screen parts are roughly the same size like the old 1150 one. this does stop the buffeting due to the design, BUT because it's only as wide as the headlamp unit, you get loads of wind on your body, which is where the givi screen is loads better.

next is to try either the tall screen from Nippy's or the adv screen = mucho money. So far i've spent £200 without good results....

Does anyone else around 6 foot tall have a screen that works well for them?

The 1150 and the 1100 are big lumps of metal The 1200 is a big lump of plastic (i bet they go good though).Forgive me im pished.

An F-16 is a big lump of plastic
An A380 is a big lump of plastic
An F117 is a big lump of plastic

You name it, if it's high tech and made to move these days.... it's mostly plastic... :beerjug:

6' 2"; Secdem screen (same as Nippy's), but with the Wunderlich adjusters at the front. Works well, especially so with the adjusters set so that the gap between base of screen and headlamp is greatest and the screen raked as far back as possible. (looks pretty good too!).

Big improvement over standard item, visor up 70-80 OK.

Secdem screen (14cm taller)

Nippy screen (21cm taller)

anybody have any experience with both?

Did you guys know that the bigger wider screen and side screens on the 1200 Adventure bolt straight on to the 1200? ... you have to buy the brace bart as well, but it is a hell of a lot quieter behind it.

Nippy's WideScreen is the Secdem - check following link:

IMHO the WideScreen is plenty high enough. Don't want to be looking through a screen all the time, which would be the case with the extra high. If you're OK doing that the ExtraHigh would make sense.
