...... Of just how good a bike the GS is.

The mighty XR is in the dealers for the night and they have given me a newish triple black.

As an all round bike they are just great. Had to recalibrate my brain though as the lincolnshire roads on my route home have this long straights with 90 degree bends at the end and you do need to lose a bit more speed on the GS than the XR to get round without buttock clenching. Similarly with overtakes What would be a blink and a pass on the XR just needed that little bit more room and the lack of the extra 40 horses is noticeable but lovely to feel that lumpy old torque again !

If i had to use a bike every day this would be unbeatable IMO but I don't so for me the XR is just a little bit more exciting and therefore better :thumb2

Surely it can't be as good as a Hilltopped Africa Twin?

Wait for it ..... wait for it .......

I've highlighted the "shit-speak" for you.........

Jeez! :blast

I had two very long road tests on the mighty XR

1st ride was one-up 2nd ride two-up, a brilliant bike but then I ordered the even mightier all-rounder the 2017 Triple Black. :augie

I've just covered about 1000 miles on the new T/B and it's utterly brilliant! :beerjug:

Exactly, I use a GS almost every day and there is nothing that comes even close - end of :)

Let's us know how you get on with the grips at the dealers, if it's in for that .

As an allround bike, the GS is very hard to beat. Having just got my new GSA, it's great to be back on one.:beerjug:

My XR looks sad in the garage when I go out on the GSA.:D

If you are going to use the word 'mighty' then this thread needs to be moved to the GSA Hexhead section.... Unless you're talking on and off-road because the it needs to go to the Airhead section.

You had to do it didn't you .... you just couldn't resist ..... Now watch what happens!

I love my GS. Just returned from a tour of Spain on it. Did a 10 mile commute on it to work today. Brilliant in both circumstances. Those in faster bikes on the Spanish twisties could mostly be kept up with.
If I could get BMW to change it in any way, I would like another 15hp and illuminated switch gear. That is all.

Well, I had a multistrada that had illuminated switch gear and it was handy on occasion. About the only bit of the bike that worked well, so maybe that's why I remember it so fondly.....
