I currently have the iPhone wired into my headset but I'm looking to buy a Scala G4 or Sena SMH10 (another decision) and wondered if you can get the TomTom voice commands from the iPhone to play through the headsets via Bluetooth? Have Googled it but can't find a definitive answer.

TomTom on the iPhone is brilliant in my view when put in waterproof bike mounted case and wired into bike battery.

I used to use iPhone TomTom with a Nolan helmet fitted with N-com- I could never get the app to pick which audio source to use so ended up using it cabled.

Thanks. Have been reading more on this as I think the iPhone won't allow TomTom to put voice commands via Bluetooth so have just ordered the Sena SMH10 headsets as they allow you to hard wire the phone, hence TomTom instructions, into the sets. So phone calls should work via Bluetooth and if I need TomTom, just plug it in. Sorted - I hope!

I too have tried to get a definitive answer on this one, but no-one who has successfully used a bluetooth headset has replied. Yet I am sure that there must be one of the bluetooth headsets that work with the iphone.

I currently use the iphone with Navfree in the car with the TomTom cradle, and the audible instructions only work when the device has been connected to the cradle, both physically docked and bluetooth synced.

I have just seen that Garmin have released an iphone/pad app for western Europe with itinary planning, live traffic, junction view and a host of other stuff that makes it look very comprehensive and possibly the answer, if I can get bluetooth instructions.

So lets hope someone can say that they are able to use the Sat Nav on the iphone with bluetooth wireless headset successfully.

Doubt this is of much use, but I use the TomTom app linked via Bluetooth through the SRC system on my C3. It works very well and comes through clear as a bell. :nenau

Hi again, just reread your question.
The specs for the SRC ( made by cardo for schuberth ) are very similar to the scala G4.

I works well with my iphone/tomtom.....all the bells and whistles and clear at m/way speeds :augie
My volume also increases as external noise increases ( getting faster )so voice commands come through clearly even with ear plugs.
As with any system you fit one of the most important things is to get the speaker placement correct, otherwise the voice commands are difficult to hear.

I am not sure if this is what you mean, but:

I have an Iphone 4 with tomtom all of Europe on it and 20 gb of music.
I have a Caberg Sintesi with Caberg's bluetooth system fitted to it.
My I phone is normally mounted in a powered satanv sucker cradle behind the Windshield.

When riding, I can, simultaneously,
Use the video camera in the phone.
Play music on the bluetooth headset.
Use the satnav system, and hear all voice commands perfectly clearly.
Answer the phone & talk easily to person at other end. Music mutes for duration of call.

Thanks for all the replies. So it sounds like it is very possible which is good news. I've bought a Sema SMH10 headset now and will go and experiment with the TomTom on the iPhone. :beerjug:

Blobby,

Please let me know how you get on, judging from the replies it looks as if the iphone works fine via a bluetooth system, including GPS instructions.

Now the only problem this now raises is -TomTom apple or the very latest Garmin European mapping that has many features - not least the route planning facilities and trip stats etc.

It works. I paired Sena SMH10 bluetooth headset with iPhone4 and TomTom directions, music, phone calls, incoming message/email beeps all come through loud and clear. Music drops back when directions are given and turns off temporarily when on a phone call. V impressed with iPhone and the TomTom on it is excellent.

Have to admit to having bought a Zumo 660 in a frustrated moment and now I'm starting to regret spending the £400+ but I'm going to run both side by side for a while to see how they compare. Initial view is I prefer TomTom maps, lane change system, changeable voices and think it finds marginally better routes on average. Zumo has a much bigger screen, is probably less effected by the sun/reflections, is deffo 100% waterproof, built to cope with the vibrations of a bike and has great route planning software which you run on your laptop which allows loads of waypoints (TomTom is 5 waypoints I think on iPhone). But is it really worth an extra £400? Time will tell.

How have you mounted the iPhone on the bike? I've got an ultimate addons mount which is good but when the suns out cant see screen very well, also can't use glove on phone going to try conductive thread in my summer glove.
