and after months of almost daily viewing of the Ocean website, an F650GS in my price bracket (cheap-ish) appeared. Had been waiting for a R1200R to appear but they are rare as hens teeth.

Cant buy a bigger/taller bike as my lickle legs prevent me from even tippy-toeing the floor :(

Went to have a look at the 650, smitten instantly & bought it.

Broken my Beemer cherry at last!

Pick it up on Friday :D:D:D

Thanks for the welcome :)

Looking forward to some happy biking though I will miss the wonderful acceleration & top end of my old ER6F

Welcome and enjoy the bike.

My f650 is running at around 70+ mpg

I was out for a social run on her today (110 miles of up hill down dale, mostly single carriageway roads) in the company of more powerful bikes and at no time was I feeling I needed more power.

I feel this bike could commute me safely or fulfil an Adventure holiday

They are astonishing bikes and never need to apologise to the likes of ER5s

Off topic, my BMW Rally 3 suit allowed me to remain cool riding in 28+ degrees. I'm impressed

Ride safe.

R1200r does not do 70+ mpg (like my F650 is doing) and I cannot imagine it could have anything like the delightful handling or gearbox of the f.

These are stunning bikes, you have made the correct choice.

My Anniversary in white, coupled with my white helmet certainly makes the cars behave. :bounce1

1) .... My 650 twin averaging 72mpg at the mo :aidan
2) .... Trip to Wales From North Yorkshire, across peaks and back with IAM group with no probs (solo with luggage and still over 70mpg) :beerjug:
3) .... 70 mile a day commute plus fun and touring rides :thumb2:thumby::D
4) .... F650GS twins .... most under rated bike ... just enjoy :aidan:friday:beerjug:
5) .... +1 :hide

Just don't stick with the standard seat :hide

I've bought two farkles already!! Brake lever extender & an MRA adjustable screen

Does that make me a proper Tosser?

What's wrong with the standard seats? When I bought my F800 a couple of weeks ago it came with the standard as well as lower (and it seems softer) option...
I've just been trying to decide which to leave on there as I'm planning my first long trip so want to be comfortable. Thought I might ride over an Alp!
I prefer the position of the taller seat (standard one), but you do get a lot more buffetting and I also worry the firmness will lead to numb bum after a few miles?
So was just interested to read your comment!

I was squirming after about 40 minutes on my standard seat. After two weeks I bought the BMW comfort seat which is around £250. That sorted it !

You find that a lot of (most :D ) 650/800 riders refer to the standard seat as "THE PLANK" :hide I heard a dealer state that as this is and "Enduro" bike, they are designed to be ridden standing on the pegs :blast

Unless you have a well built but, get a comfort seat of some sort :hide loads of info on here about seat options. Now go out and enjoy a great bike :beerjug:

I've had to go with the low seat as my feet don't touch the floor otherwise - might have to invest in an airhawk for comfort when SWMBO isn't looking :)

Yeah I did notice it was a lot... firmer ;)

Maybe I will play it safe and go with the soft one for the long trips!

It is a great bike... haven't sold the Triumph it replaced yet... well maybe there's room for two in the garage ;) :beerjug:
