mornin

had been toying with the idea of a GS for months and after going to the hog-roast event as a guide and seeing all the loooverly GS's I decided to stop resisting, so got my finger out and bought one. Sold the Hornet and Firestorm on fleabay and picked up a 1200 GS a couple of weeks ago. :D :D :D

Its a blue / silver one and I am over t'moon with it....not been on any long rides yet, done about 300 miles but may go away for the bank holiday. Got a full set of BM luggage with it which is pretty neat.

could anyone help with these 2 questions:
- Its got 12 months warranty left so do I need to let BMW know I am the new owner for breakdown purposes? If so anyone have a phone number?
- Whats the best way to attach the (bm) tank bag? Hook first or zip first?

ta very much

Rich

Congrats Rich.

You will enjoy it the more you ride it. Blue is THE colour to have

Keep it between the hedges.

I'd let BMW Services know - they usually send out a card with the details on it...

no is 0800 777 111 or 020 8686 2444

Sorry - I don't have the bmw tank bag so can't answer that bit...

Good choice of bike btw - welcome to the GS Experience... :)

BMW tank bag fixing...

ask Wraithrider or Joyseeker.. :bash

... on second thoughts a search may be the safer option :hide

enjoy your bike :)

thanks for the info and encouragement.....I phoned bm cust services who transferred the name on the breakdown assistance and then I phoned the dealer who changed the name on their records as they are different systems apparently.

As for the tank bag, well I thought about hook first but doing it that way seems to strain the zip / Velcro / thing stuck to tank when you do the zip up, is this normal? It looks like the tank part of the zip is only held on with a sticker......

I have booked a b&b in Wales for myself and the gf for the bank holiday weekend so will be able to give it a proper run out which I am looking forward to as Wales is a great place to ride, not sure I will catch up with tartan terrors 1500 miles tho.

couple of pics here

cant seem to get the images on the page with the insert img button

Good on You
Being an X Honda man myself too i bloody love my ADV. Traded in my Blackbird and certainly no regrets, completely different riding.
As for the Tank Bag hooks first otherwise you run the risk of scatching the tank if you do it the other way round.

Enjoy your riding. :thumb

Are you placing the hook and then lifting the bag 'up' and 'pulling' to stretch the elastic before lowering it onto the tank and doing the zip up?

Andres

thanks for putting the pics up. I see where I was going wrong, and I am an IT geek, shame on me. :o

Thanks, I am now. It stretches much more than I expected :thumb

Putting the tank bag back

Ah, so I am not the only one in difficulty ! However I solved the problem in a rather agricultural way ! I carry a short length of wood (about 200x 10 x 15mm) in the bag. Fasten the zip first then push the hook down with my very technical stick which is pointed at the end; Corny but it works a treat especially when you have the bag full and there is a long queue behind you at the pumps.
