Has anybody tried a Db killer in their exhausts??
I have a decat header mated to standard silencer (twin cam) and its droning gets a bit annoying on the many long trips i do,
The headers were on the bike when i bought it (scorpion i think) with an aftermarket silencer which I swapped for standard,
The flap has been removed too!
Qny solutions or is it a case of sourcing a secong hand set of standard headers?
Cheers 👍

I have Akrapovic on mine and although it sounds nice without the baffle I leave it in, too much drone on motorway in outside lane with concrete barrier as we have here. And I wear earplugs.

Not much good to you I know but you are not alone! :D

I’d love an Akra on the bike but I’d get a very unhappy wife as a passenger. Had loud cans on previous bikes, definitely not pleasant on a long run.

I do struggle to understand just why anyone would want a loud exhaust on any vehicle. Is it look at me? Is it just to piss off other road users? Is it to piss off other riders you ride with? Perhaps it’s just that the buyers like loud noise and don’t give a shit about others. I’m pretty sure that the designers, builders etc of vehicles know bettter than some internet expert exactly which exhaust the vehicle should have.
Quiet is good. Definitely don’t want to alert the police if we’re batting on a bit.

You want to be fast and relatively silent.

I have decat headers and original muffler on my hexhead. It is not that loud. I had it noise tested a few times when taking it to the track and it is just a tiny bit (but the scale is logarithmic) than standard.

Wind noise in my case was far worse (I couldn't hear the bike past 30mph) but sorted it with a spoiler.
You cannot put a dbkiller on the original muffler, just buy a set of original (catted) headers.

Mine in a standard can had a horrible sound mid range, swapped out to aftermarket and sounds much better really nice coming off the throttle without being loud.

Each to their own I suppose.

Thanks for all the replies chaps..
Im going to source a set of original headers (With cat) and hopefully all will be good then?
Ride safe

many years ago my mate stuck a noisy exhaust on his XR3i
he said it made the car sound more supercar?

I said when was the last time a porsche or Ferrari past you sounding like that?
if i had a 911 that sounded like that it would be going back to the dealer

i dont get em either.... quiet is much better, but for the record silent electric is boring too.

If it annoys as a rider, I can guarantee they are worse for people living beside the roads where these are used.

I just had a rag top Lambo thing pull in front, then he ripped it to death up the road for 5 miles - the noise was very dramatic , the wheel spin, cacophony of exhaust explosions and pops on the overrun, together with the showers of gravel and filth thrown off the wide tyres was up unbelievable

...but the most extraordinary thing was the effort he needed to try and do this - whilst I sat there following, keeping up with little effort at all at less than 6k rpm - what a moped - if bikes were this loud we'd all be banned
