Other than the BMW vario are there any other top boxes that fit where the pillion seat usually is? I cant find any and would have thought this was an obvious accessory.

Givi Maxia

Fits with a givi plate & some imagination.I do not have the grab handles fitted.A picture is on the BMW GS owners site somewhere.

I've got the 45l mounted in passenger seat spot. works great, and is easily removed to put seat back on.

Don't s'pose you'd like to take a pic without the box attached, to show how the plate fixes and give a little hint please?

I just fitted the Givi rack and, though I've had a top box fitted 365 to all my last bikes, this looks mighty unstable on the 1200.

Fanx in advance

Hi. Dont s'pose you've got or could take a couple of pix and tell me how you fixed the Givi plate to your passenger seat please? :nenau

It sounds ideal (Not like the Givi rack I've just fitted!) but some pix without the box attached and the mount points etc would be greatly appreciated. :bow

The "Easily removed" bit intrigues me

Just for interest, here are a couple of pics to show the BMW box in place of the back seat. Also a pic of the bracket.

Extra fittings are required for this. (Mine will be up for sale very shortly)

Kev, is that back rest any good? I always think it looks like it's too far back to be useful?

It is fine (although better for the pillion) it is a little bit to far back when riding normally, however on motorways etc, you can lean back onto it OK the box needs to be extended for best results.

The kit to mount rhe BMW adaptor plate on the rear seat area is about £20, a bit less if I remember correctly.

Putting the top box here is really good for off roading - much to the amusement of some pogo stick jockeys I did the whole PJM rally with the top box on the bike :) I was the one laughing when I could stop for a sarnie after the special stages though! :D

Plus if your legs get tired when standing up on the pegs you can sit on the top box.

be careful if you put the BMW top box on the back seat. Unless it's been redesigned recently it's prone to flying off and scaring pedestrians.
Replaced mine with soft luggage!

Any idea of how much the kit is to convert base plate for the rear seat area? I already have the topbox plate etc.
