Top case and luggage liner options

I'm considering changing to a R1200GSA TE and I read on the BMW website that the top case has a 32litre capacity, No Full face helmets.

I'm used to having a two helmet top case and was wondering if there is an alternative that is the same style and incorporates the same fixing/lock configuration.

Secondly are there a good aftermarket liners and carrying handles or should I just go with OEM.

I have gone with the Givi trekker top case, much better built the 2 previous BMW vary top cases I had and the bigger size will take 2 helmets. I have gone for the aluminium givi plate adapter which is very easy to fit and looks like the OEM rear rack.

Wouldn't know the exact capacity but the BMW top case does take a full face helmet with a little room to spare (enough for gloves, neck gaiter etc).

The 58 litre Givi Trekker Outback works well. Givi liner is also waterproof. Slight downside; both ends of standard GSA panniers have to be opened to gain access.

I dont suppose you have a photo from the back and how did you fit it ? I need the ability to remove and fit very quickly to fit my blood box rack.

If it's the same as the plate for the Hexhead, it's 4 x nuts & bolts.

I've opted for the smaller Givi Trekker Outback - will o/e panniers still have the same issue regarding opening with this? (don't get my GSA 'till March)

Septikangel....... No it won't. It's the width of the 58ltr box that stops the BMW boxes from hinging open.

Think it will take a full face but I just splashed out end of last year on a Shoei with a peak and that wont go in, bit annoying really cos it went into my GS top box no problem. Think I'm gonna try this year using the panniers combined with soft luggage, I hear nothing but good things about the Kriega stuff so will be giving them a go

we have just gone from 1 box to 2 if you have appropriate rack and are adqual,anyway the plate attaches to a jesse luggage plate and comes off and on just like the pillion seat using the key.

Pannier Liners

going back to the other half of my question, what liners do people buy ?

Hi, I assume you are referring to inner bags, if so I brought Mane Event pannier bags and so far I have been very pleased with them.

Although the BMW ones are probably more sturdy and waterproof I find the Mane Event ones more user friendly, if your not intending to strap them on top of the panniers and only use them inside then these liners are more than adequate and a lot cheaper.
