i've removed many front covers and you don't need to lock the flywheel at TDC... why would you need to ?

Thought I read in Haynes to get the alternator pully off?

Socket on nut, long breaker bar, hold end, turn ignition on, tap starter, nut now loose ( disconnect electrical connector at both fuel injectors so engine doesn’t start) ..

That is a smart way of doing it, indeed :bow

When I had to get the pulley of few months ago (the seal behind needed replacement), I put the gearbox in 6th and had a helper apply the rear brake (turned out quite some force on the brake paddel was nneded). I got the pulley of and also afterwards torqued up to prescibed value, but had a strong feeling that this was not the smartest way of doing it :blast

Anyway to be better equipped for the future i did a search to see if I could fing the blocking pin at a cheaper price that OEM, and I did:

I ordered that one and suspect it will work like an umbrella, now that I have it I might never need it.... :)

Thanks I’ll ordered the cheap pin in the link although this is also a useful method!
