Top Five Laminated Jackets

Having sold my Rukka Nivala, as I hardly used it, I’m tempted to try an Oxford Stormlamd, especially as I can get one for £318 delivered.
Ok, it’s not Goretex and only a 2 layer laminate but Tony on the vid said his was faultless and it’s about 1/5 this cost of the Nivala so,not such an issue if I don’t actually use it much.

For the last couple of big trips I’ve worn my Rukka Raymore which is a summer weight jacket with good venting and carried a Scott Ergo Pro waterproof jacket , which I’ve needed twice.
That’s my preferred method as a having triple laminate like the Nivala gets a bit uncomfortable in hot weather.
But it would be good to have a laminate jacket just in case the forecast for a 2 week trip gives a fair bit of rain,as the only faff with an over jacket is to keep taking it off and on when the rain stops/starts.
But the Stormland is only a 2 layer laminate so a bit lighter and more flexible.
Only issue is my likely size seems sold out at the usual vendors.
Hopefully back in stock soon.

If you don't need the tufty tufty Ewan & Charlie look......have a look at the Oxford Hinterland....same spec shell with a more road orientated style.

(on Sale at the moment as well on Sportbikeshop)

Sent with a Zen10

Good video I like Revitt products. I have an original Revitt Posidon suit which I purchased in 2017. Its made with a mixture of two layer and three layer gortex laminate and works in temperatures from about 5c with the liners in, to about 27c/ as long as you're moving as it has lots of ventilation options. Its been completely waterproof including riding a couple of hundred miles in torrential rain from Cairnryan to the Isle of Mull in October 2022. When the time comes to replace it I'd buy a Revitt product again.

Went to Sportsbikeshop in Reading and tried on the Hinterland jacket and pants.

Was amazed at the quality for the price so have ordered both and also ordered the upgraded dynamic level 2 armour throughout.
Got the whole lot for under £400 which I think is a bargain.

Will start another thread highlighting this deal, but thanks again for the heads up

Does this make us Thunder Buddies now.....

Joking aside.....400 quid for an entire laminated suit with level 2 armour.

I....and I'm sure, many others on here, have paid over a hundred quid for a Rukka hi-viz vest!!!

It would make a person reassess.

Why Thunder ?

I might not use the suit much but would rather have a £400 suit hanging up than a £2000+ Rukka !!

I could have saved £50 just getting the basic level 2 armour rather than the dynamic stuff but the latter looks much more flexible and is akin to the D3O Ghost armour I had in my Rukka .

I like his reviews.
Very factual.
I, too, like Tony Hoare’s reviews for SportsBikeShop. Undoubtedly, his reviews are considerably more trustworthy than the Chap in the Cap’s videos.

That said, the very best laminated textile are made-to-measure: Hideout Hi-Pro and BKS 100SX 😉

Agreed. I won't watch any review by that annoying little man in his trademark flatcap. They're not so much reviews as sales pitches.

You’d think he review stuff he doesn’t sell !

No problem with his offering sale details. Just don't like the way he comes across nor his ego.

Funny how we see people differently .
I think he comes across as very factual with no ego.
I’ve had a chat with him a few times and he’s a a lovely guy.

SBS reviews are very good .
As for the tw4t in the hat, I like his reviews, very informative. What I do find amusing though is how there no doubt in his mind that the Shoei Neotec 3 is the best and quietest helmet in the world. A lid he doesn’t actually wear as it doesn’t fit him.
His replies to some of the comments make me laugh too.
