Didn't know whether to post this here or in the Beak Chat and Bollocks section but three and a half years and 46k miles ago I purchased a Rukka suit and it wasn't cheap and two weeks ago I returned it to Infinity at Farnborough with what I considered a few minor problems, zip pulls broken, lining split but still waterproof and the main problem being the leaking crutch. I am short in the leg with a low seat and I think this makes the problem worse as the water seems to pool. Having produced my original purchase receipt it was duly sent away with a 6 week turn around time and a couple of days later I was provided with a replacement suit albeit not of the same quality but then what other manufacturer does that anyway. Yesterday I received a call from the guys at Infinity to say that my suit had been replaced free of charge by Rukka in accordance with their 5 year warranty. Suffice to say that had they offered me a reasonable discount off another suit or repaired my old one I would have been satisfied or stumped up same cash for a new one. I am now the proud owner of a brand new top of the range Rukka suit (£1550) and my only complaint is that the pockets on the new one aren't as good as the old one but then I am an habitual pocket stuffer.
Can't fault the old suit, hot as it may have been on some days but looking back at my service records this time last year I was riding to Steptoes for a service in the snow encapsulated in my Rukka warmth.
What can I say other than thank you Rukka for living up to your guarantee
and the help of the guy at Infinity whose comment was "Mr Gibbs you have got to be the luckiest guy in the world" On the basis of this I checked my Lottery tickets only to find they were wrong.
All I can end with is, Rukka stand up to their guarantee and what more can you ask from a manufacturer.
If any of you want the warts and all of Rukka ownership please feel free to contact me
Regards
Matt
PS Forgot to say that this kit :beerjug:stood up to the rigours of 2 trips across Salisbury Plain courtesy of Steptoe

+1 for rukka and their garentee.

the crutch went on my all road trs after 1 years use so took back to infinity in farnbourgh ti get repleaced,
they then sent it off and got a replacment trs
6 weeks later trs came back better than ever and all free of charge!

it is expensive kit but worth every penny!

tricky463,
ive got the all road jacket and trs for most days and then a Marco jacket for the winter, they are both ace bits of kit, with the alroad have a goretex liner to keep the rain out and the marco having a goretex outer with a themal liner, so just depends on what you want really

:beerjug:

thanks for that,

will pop to infinity at hanger lane to try them on later. shame they don't do a 0% deal like HG.

cheers

The five year warranty was the one thing that sold me on Rukka kit, particularly as they give you loan kit to replace your while its away.

I've not had to return mine yet, but Infinity are great for top service!

I'm glad most got for the Twat suite though, it's great to wear excellent kit and not look like everyone else :)

What do you think of the Marco? I thought it had a Z liner so the outer will still get wet?

I was thinking of one for year round riding, I have a HG Rallye suit and even in summer it too cold once on the move.

Trying to get a clear answer on what the neck fitting is compared to a HG of the same size. I have a thick neck:blast

also, I'm in North Staffs and can't find anyone who has stock to try on?

dunno if the old ones had a waterproof liner but mines a new one and its a waterproof outer with a quilted liner,
i find it very warm, when i was using the allroad jacket in the winter last year i had to layer up but with the marco i can just where my work shirt (thin nylon police issue peice of crap) and im toastie all the way to work, grantyed its only a 20 min round trip but all country roads and all open so gets pretty chilly!

i have noticed it has a smaller neck than the allroad but this adds to the snuggness!

i thinks its an ace jacket, i got the one with the dayglow arms and body so dont have to wear an extra hi viz when the weathers crap,
iot also alot lighter than the alroad, which is nice

only downfall is the price!

hope thios helps!

Thanks, it's the day glo that appeals to me also. I'm working on the assumption it will be ok for the summer too with the padded inner removed?

I have a 2 year old Jacket with a Z liner (I think the Marco model replaced it). The Cordura outer does hold water and it sometimes feels a bit clammy inside if you haven't got a long sleeved layer in between e.g. the quilted liner or long sleeved top, but I've never actually got wet; I think it's more of a 'thermal' issue rather than a 'moisture' issue when the outer gets really wet. Saying that, I regularly wash it it Nikwax Techwash and TX Direct wash in re-proofer and this limits the issue, especially if you run it through a low/warm dryer cycle as this helps re-build the water beading action.

I bought the jacket and some Allroad bottoms from infinity and I have been very pleased with that decision ... nearly two years of year round riding and commuting and it still comes up looking great after a wash, it's very durable, comfortable, warm and dry.

I'll certainly be looking at Rukka when I replace these although by the looks of things that may be some time.

The only item I would recommend altering is to get the upgraded Rukka back protector insert as the one that the 'poverty' models come with is not really up to scratch ... I upgraded mine at the time of purchase for an extra £25, don't know whether this is a) still and issue and b) if so an offered upgrade.

[I rarely get too hot in summer with the quilt removed but on the hottest days waiting at lights there is very little biking kit with the right level of protection that will keep you cool.]

well, looks like a choice between two jackets.

been to both infinity and HG and extensive trying and wearing. The rukka feels like an old friend whereas the HG feels like a piece of cardboard at first but after a short while feels good. Both jackets are similar materials and construction. only benefits with Rukka being the 5 year warranty on everything. HG is 2 years (+5yr separate gore guarantee).

price of HG £550!
price of Rukka (don't ask i'm still recovering)

both HG and infinity do 0% finance over 6 months

if they were both the same price the rukka would win for guarantee. however both are very expensive yet i have heard no bad stories about rukka. have had my HG jacket for 3 years.

(is it nice to go shopping every three years or wear the same thing for years on end)

cheers for all the help as usual.

Get a deal!

Mention the low(er) prices at Bikerland.de and get them to lower the price.

Got the link wrong

Got the link wrong, this is the correct one biker-land.de

Either make BikerLand an offer or use them to get a lower price with Infinity.

Do searches on this forum for Rukka, biker-land.de or infinity and you will find plenty of help.

How did the two fit size wise? I still can't find anywhere nr me in North staffs or Birmingham that stocks Rukka. I want to order a Marco but don't know how they fit compared with HG - especially around the neck.

I believe that both jackets are very similar fit. HG can feel a bit tight in the arms whereas the rukka can feel a bit short in the length. both have belts. the HG is velcro which is actually very good and very easy to adjust with gloves on. sitting on the bike both jackets feel comfortable and not restrictive. neither of them bunch up and therfore i do not anticpate a pool of water forming..both jackets would need to be shaken before hanging up. i like the HG design due to the large front square pockets. i like rukka but have never used rukka. my experience with Hg has been good. for me i think it will come down to the warranty as both jackets feel comfortable and look ok off the bike (ie you don't look like a knob) both could be using for hiking.

however i feel both have their pros and cons. won't know how good or bad each one is until i have lobbed over £500. I am aiming towards the rukka due to the fact that nobody has a bad word to say and the guarantee appears to be superb.

i would like them both but i really want to know how they perform in the summer.
thinking of buying a rukka jacket and trousers and a twat jacket for touring in summer.

I've used Rukka gear for the past seven years. Fantastic quality. Once you take out the lining, the stuff's comfy until the outside temperature hits 25C. The GoreTex works both ways :)...

I used to pack both the Rukka gear and lighter summer gear when touring in the summer on the Continent. I've concluded that unnecessary unless you know you'll be somewhere where the chance of rain is zero and it will always be hotter than 25 degrees. As long as you keep moving, the Rukka clothing will be fine.
