Having heard of the horrible rainy weather you're getting back home, I guess the last thing you all need to hear is some news from a bunch of South Eastern members making their way around Morocco, but I wanna tell you it's not been all beer and skittles, no sir!!
We arrived in the Erg Chebbi on Thursday and met up with Paul, Nigel and Robbie. I dumped the bike on the way in, (don't you just love to ride on sand!!) but Keith, Mike, Lee and I were all pretty tired after a long day of riding down from Ifrane. A great stay followed in the Auberge du Sud, and we could recommend it to anyone. Then on Friday the wind started the whole picture changed. We left the place to ride the 8 miles across the desert to the asphalt road into Merzouga, and it was way better than I was expecting, with virtually no sand and just gravel, heavily corrugated. Riding was restricted to about 50 mph max due to the ferocious side winds and the drifting sand, so progress was slow and painful. We are now plotted up in a little auberge just in the Todra Gorge. A ride report and pictures will follow in due course.
Should just give another big thanks to Steptoe for his invaluable help early in the trip, the bike's going fine now, and we're having a good time all around
