Can someone tell me what size Torx you need to take the rear wheel off? And should there have been one in the tool bag under the seat?

It's a T-50.

and no, the took kit didn't come with one :blast

Get a half inch drive one from Halfords or any tool supplier and stick it in the kit :thumb2

EDIT......if you have a Ford dealer near you, they will probably have them cheap.....I can't remember what it's for, but something pretty common on a lot of Fords uses a T50 .

And if you get one from Halfords, keep the receipt. Lifetime guarantee, which would have been great if I'd kept mine, having just snapped a 3/8 drive one! :blast
(yes, I know, but the 3/8 set fits better in my tool roll!)

It should be torqued to 44ft/lb or 60nm in new money

This feels bloody tight to me so if you ain't got a torque wrench go and get one before you under-tighten it and have a wheel fall off, or overdo it and strip the threads.

.......or if you haven't got a torque wrench or are in the arse end of nowhere, just nip them up tight and you'll be good to go. You will neither strip the threads and your wheel will not fall off:thumb

Only the Halford's Professional range are guarantee for life.:rob

No need to keep the receipt.

I got told the same, and the wheelnuts had been tightened to the "correct" torque. Which is why my Torx bit snapped trying to undo them. :(

My sentiments entirely! :thumb

Yep, my torx bit also snapped undoing. and it was Halfords professional, they did replace without aruement but lets be honest, it's still shit and money would be saved buying a decent brand. I don't know any professional that buys their tools from Halfords

You should try the rear wheel bolts for a K1100RS - they are 105 Nm. I broke two Halfords hex drives hanging off a breaker bar whilst undoing the bevel drive on the K bike - both exchanged without fuss by Halfords. Have not broken any others so overall I think the pro range are a decent buy.

I am a professional aircraft engineer, and I buy some of my tools from Halfords Professional range.

I got fed up with paying four times as much for Snap On torx bits and then having to argue with Mr Snap On about changing it. If it broke you must have misused it was their normal response.

No arguement at Halfords even if I did misuse it with an impact wrench.:D
