Just trying to be helpful like but you may get a better response with a new thread as this one is entitled - Tour de France, 15th to 17th July - Vittel - which is from 2009.

saw a stage of this years Giro, the stage to L'Aquila, where the peleton split into 2 and lots of favourites were in the wrong group..
stood in a thunder storm and watched them trundle by, they were not too happy looking, severe wind, pissing rain and thunder and lightning....bet most wished they had taken other forms of PEDs that day....
Yamaha had sponsored the Giro bikes this year, a type of Hornet, for the commissars, media had mostly BM's and 1 photographer's bike was a 990Adv...

Tour doesnt go to Vittel this year, so no drugs for you boyo

Saw the Tour de France come through Basingstoke (where I was working) when the Tour came to the UK in 1994. Good fun but the peleton came flying by in a few seconds. Lots of cars, displays etc coming through ahead of the race, but if you blinked when the riders came through you'd have misssed them... they don't hang around. 
Just looking at going over on 6th July, return on 8th July.
Roadside camping along the route for two nights in the Epernay/Reims area.
Loads were roadside camping last year, no facilities but so what.

that's why the mountains top finishes are absolutely crawling with fans as they arrive in dribs and drabs over a period of about 30mins.....but it can be a long walk up and then hours of waiting....so a radio to listen to the race approaching, a picnic with a nice bottle of red...
