Might try and catch one of the climbs then get back home and have a couple of pints in Seaton Sluice watching the sprint.

Looks a cracking stage.....

:beerjug:

I followed the stage last year...those chaps certainly have large lungs

Bumpety!

:D

If I get out of bed in time I'm going to watch one of the Cat 3 climbs at Langley (near Witton Gilbert) and nip back home and walk down to Seaton Sluice for a few pints and catch a sprint....

I would have joined you at Langley but I'm off to Croft. Keep an eye open for Malcolm Elliott 45 years old and racing for Candid TV Marshals pasta, he will be near the front showing the young'uns a thing or two.

Shame you missed it - it was rather exciting.

I'm not sure of all the rules, but here goes:

Parked-up at Burnhope, near the mast...... there were a few people there..

After a few minutes the leader arrived...

I wasn't sure if it was cheating to pretend to be a Policeman, but there were plenty others and the drop-off system they were using seemed to slow them down.....

The cars with flashy lights seemed to be next:

....they seemed to be having fun, sounding the sirens and being all revvy!!

These men were only on bicycles, but seemed to be doing quite well - They weren't using the drop-off system..

.... and then lots more men on bicycles came past.... they wear dafter kit than we do.......

...after that there were lots of cars with bicycles on the roof, which must've slowed them down......:nenau

That was a "climb". :rob

Next I decided to go and see a "sprint" at Seaton Sluice. I went in the car to the supermarket first and was chortling at the folk already lining the route 2 hours before the leading motorrbike was due to come through.....

On my way back I was stopped by one of the Police Team who made me put my car on the footpath
Fortunately in a prime viewing position.....

A few motorbikes were still in the lead..

...but 2 bicycle riders had over-taken loads of motorbikes that'd struggled with the drop-off system...

.....and then lots more cyclists with the cars with un-aerodynamic roof-racks just behind.....

After all the excitement I need a stiff drink and a Sunday Dinner...:thumb2

You may see me on telly if you watch ITV4 at 19:30 tonight.......

:P

Good pic that Chris you managed to get Brad wiggins, Steve Roache the Irish champ one of the Downing Bros all in one shot..:thumb2

Just been watching today's stage on ITV4. Great finish. Good crowds too.
Question though........
If the roads can be closed for a cycle race, why can't roads be closed for a motorcycle or car race in England?
Perhaps they can..........if so why don't we have a TT here in Yorkshire?
Or an F1 Grand Prix around Durham city centre?

it was more like a rolling closure as opposed to a complete closure .
The 30 odd motorcycle police blocked off all road junctions on the race route then leap frogged along the route closing junctions ahead of the race

Even better :)
Let Guy Martin,McGuiness,Bruce Anstey and co. set off, then let 30 odd coppers try get past 'em to block the junctions :D
Just to make things interesting, they could swap bikes
