You're not giving us much to go on there Rob :nenau

A couple of vfm alternatives to the Tour-X have been discussed on here. Both have been fairly roundly dismissed as a bit cheap for high speed road work I think. One was by Marushin I think.

There is a new one due out from HJC which should be a distinct improvement on the other two, but this wasn't available yet last time I checked.

Is it an Airoh Tyger? do a google there are plenty of places on the web doing them for under £100 with a tinted visor IIRC,

Tom

The Airoh is very 'plasticky' and has a distinct budget feel to it.

I had a look at the new HJC one yesterday in Marriotts in Birkenhead.

This too has a 'budget' feel about it....the plastic parts feel 'hard' and fragile, the lining isn`t exactly plush and the visor needs a good shove to get it fully closed and even then there`s a gap...and there is no thumb tab at all on the visor,so you`d need suction cups on yer gloves to operate it properly!

Overall,it`s pretty good for a sub £100 helmet,I suppose,but I don`t think it`s an 'all day' helmet.

What, it hasn't got a hologram visor........Shock, horror, probe!

:D :D :D

And that`s another reason why I wouldn`t have one..... :P

I tried the HJC today, agree that the visor didn't seal, but it pulled up easily with my gloved hand. Perhaps gloved paws aren't as good :D

Tried a large size fitted well except for cheek padding which was not comfortable. Dissappointed, as I wanted to buy it on the looks, but in the end apart from the comfort, it offered no benefits compared to my Craft lid.

There is also a new lid advertised in one the bike magazines in WH Smiths at the moment. Its a new make I have not heard of before and looks pretty interesting.

If anyone has the magazine can they tell me what it was called?

Airoh Tyger

Airoh Tyger got one old shape more comfy than my syncrotec ,
But
Terrible in the rain ,visor steams up very badly , rain realy sticks to the visor even with polish on.

visors are a task in themselves to change .

Water Doesn't seem to get blown off with the wind as your'e riding.

get,s very buffety and vibrates over 60mph.

plus side i find it very comfortable , but every bodys head is different.

removable lining easy to wash.

doesnt leak in the rain (probably because you cannot use it in the rain see above)

would i buy another at that price YES :D

Hi Rob was going to pm you but for some reason forum seems to have disowned me!
anyway if you are interested I am about to sell Airoh Tyger helmet on ebay with dark visor size L (59 to 60) which I bought last year at the NEC and which has been worn for a day only. Nowt wrong with helmet, its just that I bought it for trail riding and ended up selling my pogo to see how it pans out in a year or with NERC bill issues!
I have photos which show just how near to brand new it is!
if you are interested pm me with your email address and we can discuss a price
in meantime I will be seeing what is stoppping me pm!
cheers

I just bought the HJC version for £99 from HG at Preston lancashire. It was the only one in the shop and on display dummy in the window (now on this dummy) the helmet is of good quality materials, is acu gold approved, the visor is about 2mm thick but optically very good (you can get distortion if plastic is over shaped). The helmet is reasonably quiet for this type and even with the peak on is steady at motorway speeds. The lining is removable and washable.

If you dont want to spend aria/bmw money I would reccomend this lid as an alternative choice.

Bob
