Unexpectedly took an Anniversary 800gs out to day whilst the GF test rode an 800gs she wanted to trade up to from her 650. As I wasn't planning on riding I didn't have my kit with me so was lent some. I'm used to a Tour-x on my GSA but wore a BMW enduro for the first time and was pretty stunned at how light it was and how well it fitted. Anybody got experience of swapping from a Tour-x to an Enduro - how did you get on? Did you miss the Arai?
Chars,

I tried on a BMW Enduro helmet before I bought my Tour-X, but it wasn't for me - didn't seem to be much room in front of my face. The Arai definitely gives me more room - it might not be much more, but it's enough to take away the claustrophobic impression I got trying on the Enduro.

As ever, YMMV, though.

I went from a BMW Enduro to a Tour X3. Had the BMW Enduro for a few years and was happy with it but local BMW Dealer had a TourX in white on display and I tried it on and liked it. Got a good deal and ended up walking out with it. Picked up another white one for Skye even cheaper (£300) from Aria stand at Scottish bike show last year. Used them on a month trip around Europe last summer and they were great.

The BMW is quite a neat fit and no room for intercom kit. The TourX helmets were easy to fit speakers and mics in and comfy when fitted. The Aria also came complete with a pinlock visor which I had never used before. I had no problems with the BMW helmet but do prefer the TourX for looks and comfort.

BMW v Arai

Having owned both, i think the Arai is better quality and actually looks better. The BMW lid is comfy and great for summertime, but it looks a bit like a parts bin special. Visor changing involves screws etc unlike the Arai, although i prefer the ratchet opening type system on the BMW lid. The colour choice on the BMW is pretty rubbish as well ( when WILL they ever get some decent colours or designs?)
Overall, if i was buying again ( and i probabally will!) i'd go for the Arai. Also has a 5 year warranty.

I've used both and would plum for the Tour X3 every time.

The Enduro is lighter but that means it feels cheaper, vibrates more whilst riding and seems to me at least, to let more noise through - even with earplugs.

It has a larger open area for the face but that means its' chin guard sits much lower making it harder to look down if you need to.

The Tour X3 has better venting options too.

Just my opinion though ......

Has the Tour-X 3 got a different visor mounting system to the earlier Tour-X then?

..no, don't think it has - I've had the mk1 and mk3 and they seem similar. They changed the design of the vents and the peak to stop it fluttering at speed but it hasn't really worked IMHO.

Thanks for all the responses. I was a little worried about squeezing my intercom in so skyenet's comments on the space confirm it. Might be good as a summer helmet as RichieS says or when on my own, but sounds like it's not offering anything to drag me away from Arai. Still, it was light!

Thanks again guys - maybe see some of you at Vines on Thursday...
