Would also be interested to hear any opinions.

The online reviews I have read, both commercial reviews and individual reviews seem to prefer the Arai.

I haven't tried the Arai, but here are a few observations on the Hornet.

There are very few visor options compared to the Arai. I found it impossible to source a dark visor and had to get a tinted visor then fit the darkest pinlock which in fairness was a good enough solution.

The peak on my Hornet vibrates a little too, like the Arai, but I did what many here recommend and stuck a couple of wee adhesive lead weights on the under side of the peak which smooths out the vibes nicely.

Apart from that I really like the Hornet and after just over three years use am still very happy with it.

I'd be interested in finding a Tour-X style helmet with a drop down sunshade, similar to the Schuberth. Does anyone make these?

The peak on the Hornet is just a little shorter than the Tour-X and soley for

this reason I sold the Hornet and went back to the Arai.

Both are fine hats, the Arai is better for me.

Now that is a good idea:clap How well does it work with the peak? Does it go from dark to light, and vice versa very quickly?

So far I have found that it works very well, even with the peak. It does seem to change dark to light and light to dark quickly.

I have also found that if I tuck down a little behind the screen of my GSA the peak is not a problem at autobahn speeds.

Liked the X4 but the Hornet doesn't feel much different. Got a good deal on the hornet which made the Arai £150 more expensive. That was the big deciding factor for me.

I bought a hornet and still have it but only use it for short local rides, I'm off to Scotland in 2 weeks and the shoei full face will be going with me, I just find the hornet vibrates my head just a little too much, looking back I would not buy a peak for road use, just my opinion :augie

I have had both the Hornet and TX4. IMO the Hornet is much lighter and more comfortable BUT i couldn't get the earphones in for comms..so went for the TX3 which i found heavy but all day comfortable.

Sadly the TX3 bought it when we had a little off last year :augie. The nice people from BMW insurance stumped up for a TX4 HOWEVER, after about 1000 miles of riding with it I gave up. The TX4 has different cheek pads over the 3 which have plastic inserts designed to curl under the jaw, providing a better fit. After about an hour the pain under my jaw bone becomes distracting to the point that I am now selling my pristine TX4.

So my advice is if you do go for a TX4 get a good long test ride first which I believe arai dealers allow. I should also point out that I got my plain white one for £349 from Ghost riders...a hell of a lot cheaper than list.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Vision,

How does everyone find the vision on a TX-4 as the shape of the visor is totally different from a normal full-face?
