Tourance availability

DrAlf may have a better idea, I think he's keen on Trailmax's.

Still on my first set of D607's (AKA trailmax) so have no idea on mileage yet but they are definitely better than tourances in terms of grip and ride. Going trail riding on them on Sunday too - should be fun. Ditch the tourances and try the dunlops – I won’t be going back now:)

FWIW you might want to try Pirelli SCorpions, I have had a rear fitted a cuple of weeks ago. So far, there is NO discernable differnce btwn it and the Tourance, about the same price too, and made in the same factory as the Tourance. I still have a Tourance on the front, and there are no prblems.

Give Stuart a bell at national tyres in barnsley.Had a bout 40 sets in a couple o weeks ago

Phil, is it a more trail oriented tread pattern?

D607s - very good on the road, I was getting 5k from a rear and over 12k from the front. Not bad on loose tracks but horrible on mud :)

Using TKC80s now :D Don't think I'll get 5k from those though, at least the rear :(

Had no problems ordering 2 sets of Tourances from Busters recently. Just replaced the H-rated pair with an identical set after 9,300 miles.

You've done it now:D

On that recommendation I've just reserved a set at Micheldever Tyres who didn't have any rear Tourances in stock. Nice price too, £143 balanced & fitted, ride in ride out job as aginst £173 for the Tourances.

Getting them next Friday, gives me a full week to get them nicely scrubbed in before I go off teararsing around the Austrian mountains:D

Hi

I used mynetmoto.com in Germany to get mine as Guildford Tyres had no stock -- Very price competitive and quick -- ordered Fri -- received the next Weds.

having similar probs with B'stone

I have Trailwings fitted, and am used to Bridgestone from previous bikes. I find the feedback positive and predictable.

Odd how folks have such preferences for a particular manufacturer. I have 8.5K on the rear and had it booked in last week for a new 'un only to get the call the day before to say no go.

Hopefully will be sorted this week if not guess I'll be reading some of the recommendations in here more closely.

Well, I had the Dunlops fitted yesterday, and I've only managed about 100 miles so far so they're not even properly scrubbed in. My initial reaction?

Weird!

Front end feels very slow and heavy to turn, then when it does and the bike starts to lean over it feels like it's not going to stop leaning! I have to phsyically counter - countersteer to stop it going too far over - never got that feeling with teh Tourances. However, I'm going to wait till I've thrashed them round Austria, but so far I'm not too keen, although I do recognise they have a more rounded profile so they will feel different.

Time will tell.........

My D607 rear is shot at 3800miles. Been a good tyre in the wet and dry. Used v hard mostly

tourance/bridgestone

if you cant get your tourance tyres try bridgestone bt020`s stunning tyres in dry or wet conditions fitted them all the time on my zx9r.i know some gs`ers have fitted them.

Although I have only done 2700m on my Tourances, I decided to order a pair from Germany as spares after reading all the issues with tyre supply.

I just ordered "V" rated front and rear for €209.05 delivered from Mynetmoto.

(£143.40 charged to my Visa card).

I received an email from the firm this afternoon!! saying they would be despatched immediately (I assume this means tomorrow) - I will post here when they arrive.

I have a local tyre company that will fit bike tyres to rolling wheels. It is also almost within walking distance, although I expect I will take the car!!

Michelin now make their excellent Pilot Road specifically for the R12GS. Best choice for on the road................

got 4500 from my first rear dunlop 607 - the grip has been superb and confidence inspiring in the wet. have had my second rear for a month - 2500 mile blast round portugal/spain and a track day last week and its looking pretty much buggered - very blisted at edges - absoluteoly fab - if you want grip then you should try this tyre!

Phil, have you had Tourances? How did the 607's compare to them. I'm not overly impressed with their feel, but I haven't had a chance to explore the grip/handling yet. They just feel odd, slow to tip in and heavy - I feel like I really have to steer the bike now.
