Tourance Next experience/alternatives

Anyone else had these? What did you think of them?

Done about 100 miles today and they feel bloody awful to me. No confidence in them at all. Pressures checked etc.

Thinking of changing to either roadtec 01s or road attack 3 or maybe the road smart 3.

What's the best/stickiest warm/dry weather tyre? Not arsed about longevity. Choice seems limited by the 19" front?

Had them as standard fitment on my 13 plater, hadn't had experience of any others but found them to be fine & replaced them like for like when they wore.
Am now ready for a tyre change at 7500 on my 16 plater, considered the Scorpion Trails but was slightly put off by the fact that the tyre wholesaler didnt seem to think they were very popular so am switching back from Noisey Annakee3s to Tourances again.

Pretty sure I'm running them. They're fine, got about 7500 miles out of them so far and still probably a couple thousand miles remaining. Back is starting to square off but I've been happy with them. Was going to go with the pr4 but heard lots of people getting punctures.

Had loads of different tyres on GS`s.

PR4s, Annakees, A40s, Tourance Next, EXPs.

Just ordered a set of Tourance Nexts for £180 delivered. All tyres on a GS are great in the dry, its only in the wet that it sorts the men from the boys. Actually liked the Next and think they are as good as PR4s in the dry, little difference in the wet too.

Done track days with the tourance next and they were fine.

Hi felt the same with mine but once run in there fine.
At first it felt like I was riding on rails but now loads of confidence in them.

Had many sets of Tourance EXP and Next on my 2010 GSA. I find them to be confidence inspiring in the dry and they provide enough grip/positive fedback in the wet for my level of ability. I generally ride two up.
However, I can never manage more than 4000 to 5000 miles out of a set.

Tried all kinds of tyres on GS and Tourane Next by far the best. Did 16000 miles on my last GS in all weathers including 3000 on a tour last year. Really pushed the tyres to the max in Pyrenees and experienced superb handling with plenty of feel when extreme cornering. Highly recommended for grip plus 6500 miles no problem

Ive been using Next since around 2013 as my dealer normally has the best deals on Metzler tyres, I like them, no complaints. The Annakee 3's that came on my latest bike however were shit.

Just looked up the blurb on Roadtec. I love this bit from Metzeler's puff "The contemporary answer to past and future needs." They sound more like a time machine than tyres; fit them and that highside/lowside would never have happened.

Decided on Dunlops I think. There'll be a free set of tourances available in a couple of weeks!

I had them, and they squared off quickly. Then had Anakee 3's, which were terrible. The Avon Trailriders I have now are light years ahead, IMO.

I replaced the Anakees fitted from new at the 6000 mile service, the Tourance Nexts have done just over 3000 miles and apart from the rear being a bit squared off I have been happy with them and will replace them with the same again, probably just before the annual overseas adventure in September.

The Avon trailrider are brilliant, but got a great deal on two sets of Continental trail attack I've Done 2,000 on the conti and find them to be very good, in my opinion way better than the anakee and the next, but the Avons still get my vote, as the best tyre for the GS bar none.

The choice of tyres depends on what you want to use the bike to do. A Trail type tyre like an Annakee or Scorpion are fine if you're going on trails or off road. However they will never be as good on roads as tyres designed purely for road use. Dual purpose tyres have to compromise by trying to do two things. I only use my GSA on roads so always buy pure road tyres. Had several pairs of PR4's and now use Roadtec 01's. Both are far superior on roads to the original Torrance Next. There's a reason why road bikes come fitted with sports or sports touring tyres not tyres like Tourane Next's.

Hello Happy,

I am about to buy a set of tyres for pure road use on an 1200 gsa (40,000 miles per year). Only had the bike a month but have read all the threads and am still a little confused about which tyre is the best to purchase.

You seem to be on the same wave length as myself, any chance of a bit of advice? 2008 so a 19" and 17" good for around 6000 miles wet + dry commute on road only.

Not fussed about super grip or ragging it around bends as I can put up with a little less grip in these circumstances due to not acting like that anymore (got rid of the ZX10R to purchase this)!!

I will attempt to PM you to try to make sure you get this message.
