Does anyone know what's the difference between these two (apart from price)?

Standard Tourance will do fine on 11s and 1150s - EXP were brought out for the 1200s.

There is a totally different tyre fitted on German sold Geeses, one of th eeds rides on them - I'll find out because I can't remember the name. Not one of th ecommon ones, like Conti, Pirelli etc - some obscure name (not Maxxis either)

My understanding is that Exp's are more road biased that the Tourance classics. As JoeC mentioned, the Exp's have a softer compound and tend to wear faster but for this you apparently get better dry tarmac grip. I have the standard Tourance on at present on my 1150 and not being a track demon I can't complain.

Available from any outlet that deals with High Level (catalogue supplier to the trade)....Heidenau tyres. The Cats Paw is the model, they are/were fitted to German GSes at new....I knew it was an obscure make!

EXP's are poo. They wear fast and don't have anywhere near the wet grip of conti trail attacks. If you're after a road biased tyre the conti's are great:thumb2

Got Heidenau K60s on my Transalp and reckon they're way better than the Tourances I used to have and cheaper too.

original tourances are better:thumb2

Just come back from a tour of the Pyrenees. Got a tyre deal but got EXPs rather than Tourances, so fitted them.

Generally I was on tarmac, except where the sat nav took me on unpaved roads. IMHO the EXPs are crap on the rough surfaces you get on French mountain roads - they follow the grooves and bumps horribly. Got onto some loose gravel on one road and the wobble at slow speed was horrendous. The only thing that is positive is that the back tyre hasn't squared off after 3k miles

I'm back to Tourances when these are worn out.

the new ones have the soft rubber around the edges and hard up the middle,
good for tarmac but wont last as long on gravel
very good in the wet but!
