TOURANCE V RATED

JUST FOUND AN OLD TREAD SAYING V RATED ARE HARDER COMPOUND AND HANDLE DIFFERENTLY. ALSO CAN YOU MIX? I AM ONLY REPLACING THE REAR.

oi - dont shout ! PARDON ?

i've got a 'V' rated tyre and its absolutely fine.
in fact - it should be 'better' than an 'H' rated tyre cos its construction has to withstand higher loads.

( they're probably the same tyre out of a different mould though )

I think motomartin meant 'try hitting the CAPS LOCK key' - that way, you don't shout.

Too Much

You are paying way too much, Tourance H rated £89 inc vat fitted at National tyres.

does anyone no if you can have a higher rated tyre on the rear and wot does it do to the handling.

murray.

Legally yes but not the other way round. Don't know Manufacturers view but would suspect they say matched pair.

Got an H front & V rear fitted to GSA, no noticeable difference from previous H rear.
Does anyone know if the compounds are different, wear rate appears to be same.

Murray,
He was refering to your use of CAPITALS;-))
The £120 price for any type of Tourance seems a little rich, does it have Gold lettering or what?
Try Roy at Total Tyre in Hayes and tell him Pat sent you.

BTW I've never noticed any great differences between either rating of Tourance only that they are a whole lot better than the rest bar Michelin Anakees, no experience yet, but meant to be good.
Here goes another tyre thread...
All the best,
Pat.

Sounds a little steep to me, Wheel fit in Cambridge do the pair for £153 fitted inc vat, valves, balance and carcass disposal for loose wheels or £168 ride in ride out.

Tourances

Just had both front and rear fitted at Micheldever Tyres 163.86, this was a ride in ride out job.

tyre ratings

The letter denotes the speed rating of the tyre, so as long the tyre is suitable for the speeds the bike is capable of their will no real noticable difference between 'H' or 'V' rated tyres or any other for that matter.

Here they are for the hard of sleeping!:p

Tourance ratings.

I had a set of 'V' rated Tourances on my GS...I really did think they were crap.

The bike weaved all over the place, then the tread blocks began to craze...finally the sidewall started to crack.

Luckily they were worn out in 4 months.

My local tyre bloke just looked at me like I was a nutter, and said:

'Theres a small chart under your seat specifies the correct rating,..and its meant to be an 'H' !!, say no more.'

So I didn't.

your bike is meant to have H rated Tyres fit H rate only

If you fit V rate Tyres then you have made a modifaction
maybe this could effect your insurance ???? you know one of them get out excuses for the insurance company

Dont mix V and H rated tyres together

Remember a tyre company needs the sale and if he only has V rate in stock then he will try and sell you V rate and that goes
for your car as well and it goes like this
tyre comapnys will always push the band that owens them

National tyres = conti
kwikfit = pirells
motorway Tyres= dunlop
Hi-Q = goodyear
ATS= Michelin

Plus all theese comapnys have a 2 nd brand to sell as well

So No2 your time is up No3 Please stop rocking the boat

:D
