Just about to buy a new rear Tourance for the 1150 tomorrow, from Protyres Bristol, for £91.65. Metzler seem to be out of stock (nationally I presume) of the HR (£89 fitted) so can only get a VR. Has any body noticed any differance in the mileage between HR and VR tyres?

I wondered if this accounted for the large difference in mileage people were getting from them (5000M to 12000M). This was my first set of tourences (v. pleased with them) and 9k on the rear. Replacing it early only because it has a slow puncture.

I've had both and I've not noticed any difference in performance/wear rate.

My current preferred supplier, Five Acres Garage in Coleford, charges the same price regardless. He orders HRs from the wholesaler and a VR sometimes turns up. The wholesaler charges him for a HR every time hence no price difference to me.

Should not make any difference most people seem to get around 8K out of a rear and 12K out the front.

depends alot on the type of roads and your riding style of course. :D

Hi,

I've had both.

first set of HR lasted for abt 9.5K

after that VR lasted about the same.

running a new set of VR at the moment.

There shouldn't be any difference in the rubber between the two ratings - therefore no difference in milage as my experience confirms.

The only difference is that the VR has a stronger inner layer to withstand higher speeds (sorry - i can't get more technical than this :D, i'm sure someone else on this board will be able to give more accurate evidence on the subject).

Hope this helps :beerjug:
