My bike has no/zilch/nada/feckall tt bits on it...the only way to protest!

Even then, because they have sales elsewhere on this spinning piece of rock-n-water, they will survive...

As far as they're concerned, pay up or shut up....

You could well be right about Touratech but the more people who complain to the european Commission about them breaking EEC rules the better chance of them taking action against them.

Trippy or any one else who can be bothered - do you want to come up with the draft so that all members who feel strongly can use it, and send it to Touratech UK. I am keen to make sure that this does not become "my one man crusuade" but that it is supported by the majority of UKGS'ers.

My office is in Munich, and 5 mins away from TT. I buy most of my stuff there (Kahedo seat, £229 here, £171 in Munich).

Actually, legally, they may be on sticky ground as we are in the common market, they can't refuse to sell you the stuff. This is the issue the the car manufacturer's had when everyone was flocking to the continent and saving themselves a few grand by doing a personal import. The big manufacturer's tried to stop it, got taken to court, and lost.

That's the point of being in the EU! At least, apart from robbing us or sovereignty, having thousands of laws and regulation imposed on us by unelected beaurocrats and knocking a few% off our GDP, that is.

If you feel strongly, you could take it further. Or just get a job where you go to germany a lot

Can you tell me roughly where TT are in Munich, and whether it is a "normal" shop I can go into and buy stuff (or is it a factory). I am visiting the European Patent Office building on Erhardstrasse next month and if the case finishes early, I will have a few hours to kill - a trip to TT for some drooling / shopping would kill some time nicely if it is easy to get to!

To be honest I have only ever bought a set of panniers off them and was very pleased with the product although delivery took longer than expected, so I don't have any real reason to either draft letter or sign one boycotting the company. Mine was a suggestion for others who get worked up about price difference and service yet continue to spend a fortune with the firm.

You are absolutely right and they know it.

I had a telephone conversation with the head honcho of 'wonderlick' a few years ago when they did just that, accepted my order then referred it to SPC with the resulting price hike by way of changing the Euro symbol for the Pound...

He conceded that they were 'perhaps' not playing the game, but felt obliged to let SPC deal with all their UK sales....

Needless to say, I have no TT or Wonderprick equipment on my bike...it's my money and they ain't getting any until they play fair!


'They' believe that no one will take it far enough for them to have to worry...and so far, they're right.

Cost is the deciding factor here....depends on how much you are willing to throw at what you are fighting for , when all said and done, they are nothing more than 'Toys'...

it's here, about 10km from the town centre. It's a shop, they have all the TT'd up bikes in there so you can see what you're buying. Most stuff is in stock, if you want anything special it's worth calling and asking him to get it it. The manager is Markus Gruber, speaks very good English and is very helpful.

Is this not missing the point of this thread....we shouldn't have to go to these lengths to get the same deal as our Continental Cousins...

They have a website that allows all other EU countries to buy direct....boycott them, simple!

Give 'Chunk' your business...he could clean up here given enough support and encouragement, he's not ripping the arse out of it...

We in the UK clearly feel that we should be paying far more than even Toratech Uk are charging. Item costs £8.40 - bidding up to £22.75

Well, I ordered a set of TT crashbars through the European site (I didn't put my home country in as the UK, but as Ireland (I know, Northern Ireland is meant to be part of the UK, but try telling that to some English people, especially when it comes to postage costs ) about three or four weeks ago. I heard nothing except that the order had been accepted and passed onto the UK distributer. I then emailed a question about delivery time and got a reply from a guy called Neil at TTuk. Below is the reply.





I have spoken to our factory on this as if it was in Euro's it wouldn't have been placed on the UK webshop. They say that they received your order and have forwarded it onto us (the UK distributor), unfortunately we don't appear to have received this so all I can do is to apologise and look into why we didn't.

Touratech Germany don't deliver to the UK, hence them forwarding your order onto us. Now although we do have these in stock and can get them straight out for you there is a price difference between Germany and ourselves. The total delivered price for this part would be £219.71 inclusive of VAT and postage.

If you would like to go ahead with this please let me know and I will get this organised to go out on Tuesday. I will need to contact you for payment details etc so if you want to reply to this email and insert your phone number I will get straight back to you.



I emailed Neil back on Monday (bank holiday), explaining why I didn't directly order through the UK and refered to this ongoing saga being discussed on ukGSer. I explained my reasons and also said that I could get a friend in Southern Ireland to order them (as they have no TT distributer) and save money, but would happily have a chat on the phone if he would like to ring me. I also pointed out the desire for a 10% discount to be offered to members of the site.

I'd suggest getting your MEP's involved as well, the more this is highlighted the more chance of having something done about it.

Wrote to my MEP

Dear Ian Hudghton,

I write to you concerning a company called Touratech which supplies adventure motorcycle parts.
If I lived anywhere else in the EU I could buy there products from Germany at around 20% less than what I can get it here in the UK.

When I get in touch with Germany the will not supply direct to me but refer me to the UK based distributor at an inflated price.
I would think this is a breach of EU regulations that one country has to pay more than any other part of the EU and would think that the EU was established to prevent this sort of discrimination.
