OK, what do you think about this?

I fitted the Touratech engine bars to my Wasserboxer. They mount easily and everything is well made. I love the stainless steel finish and they follow the lines of the bikes frame very well. However, I feel the gap on the right side engine bar is excessive compared to the left side. Is yours the same? Or have I got a Friday afternoon one? If they are all like that then I can live with it but as they are expensive I see no reason it should not be correct.

I have taken it up with Touratech Germany and requested a replacement right side, but as I expected they decline to see an issue with them. So what do you think?

Other than sympathising with your possible OCD, are you sure that the gap is different, i.e. have you measured it? From the pic, it's hard to tell if it really is different or if it just appears to be so because the right side (astride) pot is further rearwards than the left pot, giving the appearance of a bigger gap between the cam box cover and the bar on the right side.

Get your camera, stand behind your bike again look through the lens, this time step to the RIGHT a little more than before and I think you will find that your gap is gone. I think its just optics

The heads are offset, if you were looking down on the bike one cylinder is further forward than the other, that might explain your issue.

Take the bike off the centre stand and side stand. Push it over onto the right side. Problem solved!:D:beerjug:

I was in TT Germany yesterday & they someone from the uk had sent an email about his 'wonky' WC engine bars :)

'Das is because the potz is offsetz' they said & they were laughing

Check the width on each side. Measure from frame and out.
-If they are not approximately the same, you have an issue.
Would you prefer if the guards were not aligned transversely?

Great! Das Germans fink wer all daftun feckers in da UK now. :blast

It looks as though the right hand pot is the one that is further back, if thats the case then the bars are a pis poor fit even if they are the same width. It would wind me up butit may not bother others.

Das Englender is nicht so daft :D

view from above Right, the bend is greater possibly because the down tube was cut too long?

There is about a 12.5mm difference

Hi, mine are fresh out of the box. I think there is about a 12.5mm difference between yours and mine. I don't have a photo hosting site so cannot upload them. If you want to pm me an email address I will send them to you.

Left hand looks too narrow.

That is your left hand bar is 12.5 narrower than mine. So your right bar would be the right width and the left too narrow. So rather than you having too big a gap on the right you appear to have too narrow a gap on the left. I think but without mine on a bike I cannot say for sure.

Update: Had another reply from Touratech towers in the Fatherland who have now sent me a picture frome one of their showroom bikes and it looks the same gap as my bars. So at least they would appear to be the same standard. I don't suppose they will make a Mark2 version but hey ho. Like I said earlier the bars are nice quality and suit the bike so I will just squint my right eye when I look down at the traffic lights :augie Once a perfectionist and now just a Tosser :pullface

LOL on the look at the first picture the two sides are shaped differently, but just think you'll be able to drop it more on the right side before the bar hits the head..........:friday
