Fitting new panniers to the bike today.
Did one - fitted all fine - then needed to go out.
Younger brother says I'll do the other for you. Well generally he's fine methodical and careful so I says OK but make sure it's exactly like the one I've just done.
It fits great - but he's got the pucks upside down and distraught - he's know how much the panniers cost.
So here's the problem. I can either use the pannier with the pucks with the lip at the top and the screw tight pucks at the bottom - but how strong are the lips on the pucks to hold the weight of the load...
OR
I can turn the pucks the right way round and drill another set of holes for the bottom set of pucks. This is because if I fit the lipped pucks to the holes already drilled, the lips have hardly any bit on the panniers rails. But then the bottom of the panniers will then have 5 extra holes per puck which I will need to seal to prevent water coming in but will the extra holes effect the strength of the metal - it's 2mm aluminium plate by the way.
OR
I suppose I could buy another puck kit and use screw tight pucks top and bottom.
All suggestions welcome.
Brother & I are now going down the pub and I'm not taking my wallet....
