Gents,

I have bought a set of touratech panniers second hand with frames to fit my 'S' plate 1100GS (Anniversary model) They were sold as suitable for fitment to 1100 or 1150's with a Remus can & I have no cause to doubt the seller.

Unfortunately I can not get the brackets to fit with the can in place as there is not enough room. Have any of you had similar problems and if so how did you resolve them? I will try to post pics to show my current silencer set-up.

Thanks
Hops

Does the pannier have a square or a curved cut out?

Same for the frame, is it a square section that goes over the silencer or a flat curved bar?

The Sonderset for the standard can is curved in both case and square for Remus end cans.

A picture of the pannier and the frame would be better than the silencer.

Hi Hops

Mine was the same when using the Remus pipe, just clears when I use my standard can though so I end up swapping them around when I fit my alu boxes.

works for me A

thanks chaps

i will try to get pics of the frame and pannier tomorrow, why is nothing easy??

If it helps with identification, this is the Zonderset frame for use with the standard end-can.

And this is the cut-out in the nearside pannier for the same.

For Remus and some other after-market silencers, the cut-out is boxed and the frame squared to match.

TT say that the the set for the OE silencer will not fit with Remus etc.

my set up

mike, this is the cut out and frame

That's definitely the Remus set.

I'm not sure why it won't fit unless the silencer needs loosening first.

I'd put the frames in place, only thread the fixing a few turns at first.

Undo the exhaust clamps and leave them loose, then try lining up the exhaust to match the cut-out before tightening anything. When you do, only tighten the fixings a little at a time until they all draw down.

When I fitted the set to my mates Anniversary model (above) I went round doing up each fixing a little at a time. Do one fixing up tight and it pulls the alignment of the others out.

thanks mike

I presume the end can should sit on the outside of the frame? At the moment it is not even close, I will try doing as you suggest tomorrow.

The can should be inside the pannier frame.

Have a look on the TT website. If you go to the Zega Pannier sales, select the Remus application and click on the download, there's a PDF document on how to fit them. There's a clear image of the nearside mounting.

It looks as though the previous owner didn't bother with the end piece! Don't put anything sensitive to heat in the pannier without the extension pipe. Even if it is fugly, it works.
