My Touratech panniers look to be suffering from severe salt reaction, and are covered in white blotches, which looks like dried salt. I'm guessing that it is just a reaction to general road grime and salt, because when I peeled off the old "GB" sticker (to fit some reflective strips), the bit under the sticker was in pristine condition. They have been cleaned twice and there is no "pitting" so, is there a polish I could use. If there isn't anything suitable, I won't lose any sleep over it.

I apologise in advance to all the rufty tufty bikers out there who would not be seen dead, within half a mile of a tube of polish. :D

Thanks John. Already tried WD40. It was an improvement, but not brilliant.

Anybody had any bad experiences with Jokers magic cleaner? Or would that just disolve them ? :D :D

Have you tried Solvol Autosol? It has always done a good job on alloy and chrome when I 've used it...

Mike:)

And the Answer is

T - Cut + lots of E.G.
And then a lovin coat of Canuba wax.
Removes the white , what i think is essentially oxidisation.

My T'tech topbox is likewise - gritty bits of aluminium oxide (I guess) all over it. T Cut, as Civil sez, seems to shift it.

Funny, but me Verns have come through the winter without even a spot... And they put salt on the roads down here like a Glasgow chippy.

A wee tip !

T- cut contains amonia.
Continued contact with the skin is not good.
A Pair of Breathable work gloves.
And do give em a good polishin.

Have now tried Autosol, Belgom Alu and T-Cut. They all worked, but the best I found was Belgom Alu.
Thanks for the tips.:beerjug:

Now youv'e got 'em back to original, spray then with clear laquer so you don't have to do it again.

Act of God? Divine Intervention ? Who knows ? :D :D

For some reason, the pannier lids have come up far better than the panniers themselves. Will have another crack at them. What's this "Canuba Wax" Civil ?
