I have a 1150GS with the stock seat, (my bum hurts to even talk about it), and I am interested in another. My wife rides pillion occasionally, but the reason I have decided to go ahead and get another seat is a ride I have planned into the Alps this summer. No way I could do it on the stock seat. So far I have considered the Wunderlich seat, the Sargent, and the two different touratech seats. So far, the touratech appears to be the best price and I have yet to hear about a bad product from them.

If you have any experience or have heard anything specific on the Touratech seats (or any other seat that I am looking at) please share.

Thanks!

The options:

Touratech single seat: 220 Euro

Touratech Sport seat: 273 Euro

Sargent seat combo: 556 Euro

If ride height and basic saddle shape are ok on the standard seat, you could think about adding an airhawk pad and/or Alaskan buttpad. Cost would come out at about £160 I guess.

I used both on a trip round the baltic and on a C90 to Gambia with good results, i.e no piles, able to walk at the end of the day, etc.

I have the wunderlich high saddle on mine :thumb great bum rest and very durable. You pays your money you takes your choice.

The touratechs really badly made. You can feel where they chopped out the foam with a knife. Leak badly as well. I had to take mine off the bike to let the water drain out whenever it rained. Give it a miss.

I wouldn't bother with TT, you probably won't get it until Christmas

Touratech, don't you mean 'Tortoisetech'. Christmas 2007 more like. Bloody shocking :spitfire

One good thing with the Sargent is that if your pillion finds the normal seat comfy enough then you only have to buy a seat for you.

Works for me :thumb

Don't have any of them, just the stock one which I like, but if I would consider change the seat,I would definately go with Sargent!

I have just fitted the Touratech (higher) sport seat. (1200GS)

I had the TT sport seat on the 1150 as well.

Delivery was fine, (within 10 days).

I find it a lot more comfortable than the standard seat, in particular I can now sit where I want to rather than where mr BMW says I should sit.

With it being the higher seat, I guess it has more padding than the standard one.

And It looks good too.

So it gets my vote.

So You Are The One

I suppose somebody, somewhere had to get a quick delivery from Touratech. Must be good to be unique.

For those who have not used them (nothing to do with seats,I'm afraid).Ordered bags for panniers, site quoted 7- 10 days. Actual delivery 35 days.

Saw Rider GPS mount on website with 7 - 10 day delivery.Emailed UK office to confirm delivery - no reply. Emailed again one week later - no reply. Emailed Germany. Replied that item is not in stock and they do not know when they will have any.

My conclusion is that Touratech UK are making promises that they KNOW they cannot keep.

I had such pleasure in cancelling my order with them :bounce1

They just do not seem to care. Will never try them again until more than 2 people have something positive to say about their delivery / service.
Why can they not be more like Nippy's, nice bloke to talk to and delivery on time. No messing.
