I will try to do a photo tomorrow if it's not still lashing down.

The velcro at the bottom is a bit like a small tank protector you see on sports bikes t stop you scrathing the tank. It looks OK. The BMW official tank bag has somthing similar.

Touratech Tankbag......

I've been using this tankbag for nearly two years now.........first class bit of kit, about 70% of the volume af BMW tankbag and expandable if required......

Pix here show the fitting method clearly and I find undoing the zip and folding the bag back onto the seat the best way for refuelling, as it won't stand up unaided if you do it the other way......

It does look a better bag than the BMW one. A couple of questions, if you don't mind...

What keeps the front bit - the bit that clips under the VIN plate - in place when the bag's not there?

See the bit that goes under the seat - does the back of the bag velcro on to it?

If so, what provides the tension that helps keep the bag secure - i.e. keeps the clips from staying clipped to the VIN plate?

Thanks in advance.

Clip goes under VIN plate. Clip is attached to one half of a zip that is stuck onto the front of the tank (with velcro if I remember correctly, or some of that sticky gluey stuff)

Bag has other half of zip. Zip the two together to attach bag to the clip to the vin plate.

Back of bag has a strip of velcro. This velcros (is that a noun changed into a verb?) to the piece of velcro coming out from under the seat.

'Stretching' the bag between the two keeps it in place.

Result? Happiness :bounce1

That's right :thumb

Folding it forward is, as mentioned above, awkward, especialy as the filler cap gets in the way of the nozzle / trigger. There's a knack to the whole thing but IMHO the TT bag is a lot more practical (and cheaper) than MBW's giant offering.

What the 1200 maybe needs is a side filler, so you can leave the tank bag alone?

thanks for all the info!

Have you seen the Famsa one that Mr Cave sells? I've heard good reports about this and just wondered if anyone has had experisnce of both the TT one and the Famsa one. (i havent seen either, so will end up buying one 'blind' and am trying to get as much info as possible before i commit!!)

Thanks in advance
