Hi guys,

I hope someone might be able to help me here. After spending a fortune on the above tankbag i have found it to be excellent apart from one thing!

The map case which velcros to the bag is as waterproof as cardboard! Anyone come up with an alternative to the map cover which might fit on to the velcro on the bag????

Cheers

Andy Higgins.

You can take any other map case (Sealine etc.) and stick a piece of industrial velcro to it.

Or you can take the map, insert it into a standard ziplok bag, and insert that into the TT bag. The TT serves as protection for the thinner ziplok bag.

Cheers guys!

Steptoe i've got a GPS also but i like to have a map on board for piece of mind and find it a bit mnore interesting when you can see an overall picture of the area instead of a 5" picture.

Namtinker i'll give your suggestions a go, just thought i'd check if there was a third party product already out there which would replace the current case.

So much for all adventure, take it anywhere in the world, in any weather touratech products!!!!!

Nope - not too many alternatives around. The sun (especially when traveling in Africa) burns the pocket to hell which is why I switched to the ziplok method a few years back.

Maps are good! :thumb2 GPS's, no matter how padded, armoured, isolated, can break. Not an issue in a first world country, but a problem in the boonies. I had this discussion with a old German traveller on a 1100 gs in Africa once. He indicated that he stops every 20 minutes (if required) to update his location on his maps. Yes, he also use a GPS, but the electronic maps for some countries are not accurate - to many "unofficial" tracks! Old style coordinates & maps. Important if you're 250km away from the next fuel/water source and you might see only two vehicles a day...
