I've got a Touratech Zega XL 50L Topbox which I thought would be fine on the
R1150GS Adv. However, Touratech don't make a mounting bracket to fit this box
on the 1150 Adventure.

Has anyone on here found a way of mounting one of these boxes?

I have seen a pic of one mounted sideways - with a chunk of the seat removed.
However, I don't want to do this, as the benefits of having a box large enough to
hold two crash-hats is a bit irrelevant if u can't carry a pillion.

the only reason TT dont make a mount is that it would fracture the base of the box with the aluminium flexing and if you got a bigger box you WILL put more crap in it.

imho the mount will work as long as you reinforce the base of the topbox to prevent the flex.:thumb.

I used to have an 850GS on which I installed the Touratech XL box on the Touratech mounting plate (I still have both). Originally I fitted it across the mounting plate. It worked fine, except that it had to be removed to take off the Touratech pannier lids. I resolved this by removing the front tie hooks on the lids. In the end I concluded that, as I don't carry a pillion these days, I'd mount it lengthways. I still used the same mounting plate and, to stop the box wobbling and eventually causing a stress fracture, I drilled a couple of holes at the "front" of the box and rigged up a couple of adjustable feet that rested on the frame where the pillion seat would normally be. This allowed a small amount of movement. The result was that I was able to get all my camping gear etc in the Touratech panniers/topbox, leaving nothing strapped on. I just used to put the lighter, bulky stuff in the latter and had no problems. For local riding I just used the smaller topbox, without panniers.

Hope this helps.
