touring ireland

However, given the amount of EU money that has been pumped into Ireland you would think that all the roads and just about everything else should be perfect:hide
What are you implying, we have some of the best roads for GS's
in the world, money spent on them would ruin everything,
we'd all be riding LT's, where would it all end ? :D

But, I would be curious to know why Yorks Painter was
dissapointed, and where he travelled while here, it can't
have been all bad. :nenau

Just got back from Ireland, weather good, booze £3.50 a pint, roads crap, ferry 6 hours late due to i.o.m. commitments ie, more trade, last time i will be there stick it!
Its €355 here in Allihies...

Roads are crap, but thats why they are good,
Its all been siad before but just thought I'd add mine. What were you expecting?

NOW NOW gentlemen! It's not fair to have a go at someone just because he didn't like your country.

Fair point Chris but I was not really having a go in any kind of hostile way; in reality I was having a go at taking the piss - expensive piss @ € 3.50 a pint?
Nobody needs to like my country not even me?
For all it's manifest faults I felt compelled to stick up for it a bit and poke a little fun at Mr Painter; I do hope he is OK - his silence is worrying. ;)

:blast awwwww you've all gone an spoilt his cunning plan to have it all for himself:augie :aidan :augie :D

Could he be an agent for the tourist board? You say "it's a dump" and then step back while the praise is heaped to the heavens... nice one cyril.

In fairness our painter friend has a point, roads are rubbish over here, all
twisty bends and some are little more than tracks with nothing around you
but rivers, mountains, lakes etc. My advice is stay away and leave us to
suffer them alone.:( :tears

Yorks painter seems like a serial complainer and I guess if we looked hard enough could find him on every holiday review website finding fault with everyone and everything, still I guess he's entitled to his opinion, there's always ONE! Can't help but think if he was actually on a GS and complaining about the roads. Probably best to stick with motorways back home, must be more excitingand challenging for you. I hope you haven't put others off coming.
