The Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) is activated by
a) Unknown number of wheel rotations
b)Rapidly letting the tyre down
There are other occasions when you may wish to know your TPMS reading, without needing to to do either of the above
1)When you are too lazy to do pre check ride 'POWER CHECKS', using a tyre pressure gauge, (Power Oil Water Electrics Rubber), as recommended by the IAM. So easy to have an activator available before a ride !
2) You are replacing/testing and repairing a failed battery in your TPMS unit (This is a sealed unit, and I’ve been quoted up to £350 BMW, “including £160 diagnostics” but, if you are skilled at opening up and soldering, then CR2032, pre welded batteries, £0.72p each, are available Amazon)

My first mistake (Top right ), was a £1.99 TPMS activator , which did not work and small print revealed it was for Ford's
Success (Top LEFT) was with this £10 TPMS activator set up for Opel and GM cars

Ignition on, hold next to your TPMS unit, press the button (9v battery required) and one at a time, TPMS will be activated.
NOTE: the above will not register a NEW unit , which requires coding and I believe that BMW or GS911 can do that , but no experience .
The above only wakes up a TPMS which is already registered !
