TPS checking

Want to check the TPS on my R1100RT, as I am experiencing a little surging, which pins on the TPS do I get to check the voltage off, or is it obvious once the plug is removed, searcing for it does'nt really find the answer, just lots of recomendations to set it correctly.

Red/white and brown.

The wires at the outer ends of the plug.

I'll post up some pics later of an easily made "special" tool for checking the voltage without any messing about poking things into wires or terminals.

cool, I might be using the RT Sunday, so would be good to at least check it

Simple really - you need a plug from an old loom.



Attach some long reach spade ends.




Plug it in-line between the TPS and the bikes TPS plug.



And measure the voltage off the exposed long spade connectors.

Top tool that, if I ever chance upon an old loom, I will make 1, untill then its going to be a paperclip or some bared copper wire

I just use a short length of speaker wire with the ends bared, it is thin enough to fit into the socket and allow reconnection.

I use a pin. If I adjusted the TPS often it would be worth tracking down an old loom, but I don't. Nice bit of kit though...........
