Anyone had a tracker fitted to a 1300gsa ?
Just collected my new GSA and they’ve fitted the tracker under a plastic cover under the rear seat. Took me about 2 seconds to find it. As they charged me £180 to fit it I asked if they could do better !
Anyone had one fitted in a better location ?

They’re a total waste of money for the exact reason you’ve identified, thieves know exactly where they’re situated and will simply rip them out.

There’s not a lot of room under the seat on the 1300GS so I’m assuming the GSA is similar. I had Datatool actually install my tracker that was taken from my RS and it’s basically easy to spot. There really isn’t anywhere else?

I have a tracker on my 2024 Goldwing (a datatool one needed for the insurance) and its buried so deep inside the fairing, its a nightmare to locate - especially when the unit failed and needed replacing (I had to take it back from Yorkshire to London to get the dealer to do the work).

I only had it fitted because (a) it came free with the goldwing and (b) the only reasonable insurance policy insisted on having one.

Usually they leave a long enough section of wire for you to relocate it somewhere else. within a metre or so of the original location.

Professional thieves have scanners that can pinpoint a tracker no matter where it is fitted, 99% on bikes are removed at the point of the theft.
Opportunists that aren't aware will take a bike and hopefully you'll have it tracked and recovered before they realise.

As has been said a simple sticker "Tracker Installed" will deter most theives, they'll look for easier pickings.

Took my thieves a whole 18 mins to steal, transport (to a local wood) and rip-out the Biketrac unit on my Panigale V4R :( The only thing that can be said is that it provided a clear audit trail until that point to my insurance underwriters.

So not a total waste of time but a good chain and ground anchor are much more effective in stopping theft in the first place
