Andy E organised a great ride today and lead us all on a memorable ride

For those who didn't come....................you missed a good day out:blast

We met up at Pickering @ 9.30 and did an easy lane out from Pickering town centre

The only big GS was Andy himself on his new(ish) 12GSA and the others were on a mixture of pogos and Wrinkyowlie on his new-to-him F650 Funduro

From there it was on towards Rudland Rigg via Cropton

The Road of Stones at the Bankfoot end of the Rigg proved tricky as always

After much exertion..........................lunch was at Castleton

Suitably feasted we attempted Commondale Rigg, where water featured as 'is the custom' for all UKGSER rides

Commondale.jpg

The more sensible ones took the easier option

Commondale3.jpg

However others were braver (or stupid) and 'dived' in to 'fill their boots'

All was going well for Mark on his DRZ.................

Cheers Andy

We are................some of those trails go on for 10 miles long with no gates and in the forests we found some great fireroads too

Managed to let rip with the XChallenge this afternoon and got 80-90mph out of her on a gravel fireroad:eek:

These Xchallenges are superb bikes and even big potholes and stutter bumps failed to deflect her or shake her head on gravel at those kind of speeds

No wonder Pavey chose one for the Dakar

Always a pleasure JB, thoroughly enjoyed the riding today. Thanks to all, good company and good trails:thumb2

I notice you haven't mentioned passing me on the inside, speedway style on the right hander in the fire-break Johnny. 80+ on gravel and knobblies:eek: It's not big and it's not clever:augie Terrific fun :D

Thanks for the pics and report, I am now seriously looking for a lighter bike!:augie

Thanks to all who came out and to Folkbiker from whom I shamelessly stole most of the route:hide

It was just one of those roads that beckoned me on...................I was just seeing how fast she'd go mister:P

I really love this bike.................last year I thought I might sell, but the more I ride her, the better it gets and the new screen has improved the road riding too now

Leg's fine now matey:bounce1

Right then..............Admin's done, bike all washed off and and WD40'd, ready for the next outing.

How soon do you reckon we could make the next outing:augie ?

Thanks Andy,
Great day, good company,my first offroad excursion.
It will not be my last.I will have to get some off road tyres on before next time.Oh and a new set of handlebars:(

Steve

Looks like it was fun, is there any sort of mailing list for these events?

I've been dying to try some different tracks since they closed off the last few ones I know of within 20mins of my home.

I bought TKC-80's (after binning the back end on some gravel :() for my 650gs and they went and closed all the tracks I used to ride on my DT!

Wouldn't have thought so Steve, you were running well to say it was first time and you had road tyres on. Will you make it out again before the next 'event' you were telling us about? Be good to get another one in before your enforced down-time.

No mailing list - just watch the Yorkshire and/or Offroad sections for posts.

Alternatively do what I did and pick a date, time and rough location and start a thread. See who's available. It'll either work out or it won't! :rob

I take it it was you guys who passed me whilst I was playing Cricket at Castleton then :(

I was bored out of my mind chasing leather for 30 overs on the boundary wishing I was on my bike when you lot passed by :tears

Then it rained and I got soaked

Later on I was out for a Duck :blast

Next time I am coming with you lot :D

Could well have been, we did pass a cricket match ongoing in the area. Cricket or riding. Mate, tough decision:augie

Not a good Idea to boast about shit like that on open forum ;) At the end of the day you ride how you want but remember they are trails open to the public :augie

And you always play by the rules, I take it:rolleyes:

That's why the fecking nanny state has taken over:mad:

Anyway I am a member of the 'so-called' public.............and whilst driving on the A1 tonight @ 70mph.......... I was regularly overtaken:D

Looks like a good day out folks.
I will hopefully be able to make it next time.
Well done all.
